Message From a Fan in Hospital · 9:07am Oct 3rd, 2013

For those who already know (and those who don't) in addition to writing fanfics I also do radio play style dramatic readings of them over on YouTube. Recently I received this message via YouTube PMs

Hello! I would like to start off by saying that I love your work. It has kept me in high spirits in my dark day as of late. I ended up out of the USMC about alittle over six months ago do to my health going down hill fast. After weeks of testing I found out I have cancer and it is bad so I have been in and out of the hospital for sometime now and each time i go in for treatment I put on one of your "book"...I dont know were I am going with this other then please keep up the good work. ^_^

I ... am honestly not sure what to say about this. It's certainly humbling to think a hobby would help anyone even a little.

Wow, that is truly amazing indeed. And yes she is right, you do help people with those stories you upload on youtube. Goooo Scribbler! :pinkiehappy:

Even seemingly silly, inconsequential things like pony stories can work wonders for someone in a dark spot. Of course, with your work, I'm not surprised—you write damn fine stories and do very enjoyable readings. :twilightsmile:

*Hugs* just cuz it doesn't get said, doesn't mean that your hobby doesn't affect plenty of folks in awesome ways.

I can say that I doubt this guy is the only person to have been affected or helped by your work. You produce great stuff and I know I'm often touched by it. It's not hard for me to imagine using your art work as a source of support.

Now, that is touching :pinkiesmile:

I've had the same kind of situation before. This girl, who is a sister of one of my followers, was sick and dying of cancer. Likewise, she loved my artwork. All it took was one special commission for her to make her feel so happy.:twilightsmile:

She died shortly after.:ajsleepy::raritycry:

But this is clearly an example of how the small, pleasurable things you do in life will affect others :3 Keep it up:pinkiehappy:

DA

This further proves your awesomeness. Keep it up.

You bring a little more joy into the world by reading sad stories about pastel ponies. Life is strange like that sometimes. :pinkiesad2:

Yeah, I can see that. I'm a cancer survivor myself (9 years NEC), so I can relate—stories totally helped me get through the rough parts in a way nothing else could've. I mean, most people don't realize how comforting a good story can be until they really, really need one.

It might be just a hobby, but that hobby can do a whole lot of good. :pinkiehappy:
