State of the Writer, June 2013 · 6:09pm May 31st, 2013
I was about to start in on my writeoff entry (I am gonna crash and burn so hard, I shouldn't even be attempting this), but then I realized, oh! It's the last day of the month. Time for this!
So, the big news from May was my successful posting of three entire stories, which I have never done before. At least one of those was totally serious and went through six drafts, a number matched recently only by Dance 'Til We're High. That would of course be Treehouse, about which I have spoken previously. It hasn't gotten a really great reception, and I don't know why; maybe it's the slightly ambiguous description? Whatever, it fits the story.
On that note, should any of you belong to a group that one of my stories would fit in, please feel free to add it. Left to my own devices, I will do precisely nothing, because I really don't understand how groups work on fimfic, and there are too many and I don't know where to start. :B I did actually get someone to add my stuff to a few groups, which culminated in a nice smattering of new views, faves and watchers, and two people PMing me nasty notes because I guess the guy broke their rules or something with my fics and they assumed it was my fault. :B That was fun. Hello to my new watchers.
Oh yeah, and Dinky's First Kill surpassed Things Rainbow Dash Doesn't Like sometime this month to become my second most viewed fic! :D I was kind of pleased by that.
In other news, I'm pre-reading again. I have, however, adjusted my approach to the task so that it won't cut so harshly into my reading and writing time.
And speaking of reading, I'm pleased to see you all enjoying the new fic review format. :) What was I upset about, seriously, I am a silly pony. D:
To business!
Writeoff aside, I've started up a new project, taking the drafts of WIPs from my writing folder and moving them onto my Dropbox so that I can work on them on the go, while simultaneously actually working on them. That's how Treehouse and, to a lesser extent, Civil Twilight, got to posting status. I've put in work on some old writeoff entries, namely Assumptions and Apple Slices, and brought out some old fics like Comes the Branch Lord and De Excidio et Conquestu Equestriae that were never completed in the first place. (I'm doing this in alphabetical order, if that wasn't obvious.) I'm not sure what's next, but so far this has been working out well, so I may become more productive over the next few months.
(By the way, I mention fic titles randomly in these journals to drum up excitement. Feel free to ask questions if a title catches your fancy!)
Meanwhile, Epic Unicorn History is back on the back burner. I haven't abandoned it -- in fact, I'm more or less just waiting for it to show up in the project rotation -- I'm mostly just being lazy. Ponyfallout: Equestria may be scrapped; I think I've lost my drive on that one. My other, super-secret, still unstarted FoE project has been kicking around in my head lately, though. I'm not sure how to juggle two longfics, let alone one, but I'm not giving up on it yet.
Oh, and I started writing the next installment of The Elements of Awesomery. It's going to be hard, because it will doubtless be the longest one, but stay tuned for The Further Adventures of Wondercloud and Sugar Rush, if you are so inclined.
Meanwhile, I gotta go be pretentious and shit. :B Later.
You? Pretentious? Pshaw, can't see it. Cool to hear about new fics and So many to inquire about!
Assumptions and Apple Slices, Comes the Branch Lord, and the elements of awesomery sound ever more awesome than the others. how bout some of those answers you mentioned?![:derpytongue2:](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/derpytongue2.png)

I want to be pretentious, but I'm bad at it. :(
And I assume you're inquiring about those stories! :V Okay.
Assumptions, or Making an Ass Out of You and Me: Twilight fucks up a spell (okay not really) and turns herself and Rarity into donkeys. Hilarity ensues. And by "hilarity" I mean "an exploration of the plight of non-ponies in Equestria".
Apple Slices: written to explain the insta-headcanon I developed wherein Flim and Flam are actually related to Applejack. It's based on a picture.
Comes the Branch Lord: A post-Sleepless in Ponyville fic wherein Scootaloo discovers she is a virgamancer. Note that a quick Googling of "virgamancy" will net you no further explanations. :3 You'll just have to wait!
And the next EoA involves an epic quest to help a kind alien. There will be lasers, explosions, and sex on a dragon! I'm not even kidding! :D
