Cloudy Skies

Cloudy writes stories. Cloudy likes it when ponies like each other maybe a little too much and sometimes end up in love. Cloudy writes stories about these things, often.

Longpost: What's Next? Also, To Perytonia Resources, Art, Thoughts

To Perytonia ate a year and change of my life. Dramatic? Yes, dears, I am dramatic, and thank you for finally realising. I’d even add “and I wouldn’t have it any other way” because that's certainly true. However, instead of revelling in its completion and trying to drive hype, I've partially disappeared, so clearly it's complicated.

    To Perytonia Completed

The longest story I've written to date, To Perytonia, is complete.

If you've been waiting for it to finish, and if you're in the mood for a grand, dramatic adventure to foreign shores, I invite you to give it a read. Bring plenty of food and drink, pack a blanket, and ask a friend or two to come with you. It's a doozy.

    Today and the Future

This post features no spoilers of any kind.

Everyone’s talking about S8 and movies and who knows what else. Goodness, I’ve not even watched S7 yet!

And you know what, dear reader? I don’t think I ever will.

This is not a protest against anything, I’m just observing a fact. At this moment I do not know that I will ever engage with the newer content.

    Pony Fan Fiction and Positivity

Alternate titles: “The post wherein Cloudy justifies their tastes”, “let’s talk about positivity”, or “I’m not just gonna bash on sadfic, I promise!”

(There are some words about To Perytonia at the end, hence the tag.)

    RariJack? RariJack.

Shortfic is an art. An art I've never mastered.

I understand that my latest story, To Perytonia, may be daunting to some/many/most because of its sheer length. Some are waiting for it to finish, some are simply put off by the prospect of a fic that, if printed, could be used as a coffee table.

Where Earth Meets Sky + Plans! · 12:28am Mar 10th, 2012

Hello, ponies!

In my efforts to post all my fics up on FimF, I've just uploaded Where Earth Meets Sky - a very slow and deliberate ship-fic of moderate length for those who like deliciously sappy romance.

Uploading the remaining fics is a bit trickier because one is questionable (mature), one is short and needs a moderate rework, and one is terribly long and in the middle of an edit pass. Still, I hope to get around to it all sooner rather than later. I'm slowly consolidating whenever I'm too tired to write on my current fics-in-progress.

It's good to get Where Earth Meets Sky up, specifically, too. The story I am currently writing on is technically a sort-of-sequel to WEMS, so being able to post it here soon after the primary story (give me a month tops?) is neat. I may even write a third story in this continuity, centered on AppleShy. I may be entirely too fond of this little head-canon continuity of mine, gah.

As for whether or not this story is any good? That's up for you to decide, should you decide to read it! I'm off to ship more ponies. Follow-up story, and then DashFire. SpitDash. Whatever you want to call it.

Then one of the dozens of other ideas, gah.

Already read where earth meets sky, and in my opinion it's one of the best romance stories there is, can't wait for the sequel.

Frick yeah man, that was one of the first stories I ever read! Memories...
And a sequel?
*squee*

On the topic of the "questionable" story- rest assured, as long as it is of equal quality to your usual work, then the fact that it's a bit mature themed should not matter. Some of your fans/watchers just might not read it.

I look forward to reading Where Earth Meets Sky, however- I go to do so now.

I vote RainFire as the ship name. It sounds appropriately epic for those 2 and I hope the story is too.

I love your writing and your characterizations.
I have to say I am NOT a big fan of "romance" as a genre however. I consider romance to be a wonderful plot element within a genre such as adventure or comedy, but on it's own It's just not my cup of tea.
Within and Without remains one of my favorite fics of all time, and I heartily enjoyed the roller coaster ride that is Rainbow Dash's Best Plan Ever. Building Bridges is what made me realize the above. It was great but I just wanted more. More context, more plot elements, more... story. When I'm looking forward to Luna's scenes more than Dash and Twi's... Not saying romance is bad or bashing it in any way... It's just not enough, like a celery stick without peanut butter.
Anyway, look forward to more and think you're awesome.

It's not "a bit mature themed". It's an explicit clopfic involving bondage and exhibitionism (all consensual of course). It's also a sorta sequel to Earth Meets Sky. It is, of course, excellently written. It's Cloudy Skies after all.

28384 Regardless of the level of explicit content- My former statement remains true. The quality of the content is just as important, if not more important, than the content itself. A good writer could make the most horrible thing seem amazing. Post it up, brony. Clopfics are an accepted part of the brony community- Equestria wouldn't be the same without them.

WHERE IS THIS CLOPFIC. I REQUIRE LINKS POST HASTE

DashFire? My day just got 20% cooler! Man, I am so keen!

First of all, thank you all for the kind comments!

28384 I can certainly understand the words regarding romance as a main dish even if I (fairly obviously) "disagree" in that the majority of my stories sort of end up there. To me, it's the nuances in the romance that makes it all go 'round. For example, the DashFire- err, RainFire, sorry - won't exactly explode with awesome adventurey bits, but rather, it deals with expectations and being heroes.

At the same time, there are limits to how un-awesome you can make Dash and Spits! Also, I am itching to write more adventure once S2 ends.

28328 28434 Oh. Oh my, and oh wow. Uh. I should not have mentioned it, I'm startin' to think, erf. Don't seek it out, please. I promise I'll put it up here soonish (week at the latest), but the formatting of the story where it rests atm is atrociously bad. It is in dire need of some cosmetic surgery. I beg of you to let me attend!

The whole clop vs. erotica vs. whatever thing is very granular and subjective anyway. I guess that's why I am refusing to be ashamed of having written it, and instead post it up here; I want to see if I've succeeded in writing a story.

I eagerly await!

28516 I too await most eagerly.

Thanks for understanding. I just find I enjoy shipping more when the entire story isn't about the shipping itself.:twilightsheepish:

Also I thought you might be touching up THAT fic which is why I didn't name it :twilightblush:

There's a CloudySkies fic out there I haven't read, AND NOPONY BOTHERED TO MENTION IT TO ME?!

Holy crap I must find this...

If I remember rightly, Cloudy said that the mature sequel was an experiment. It was a very well-written experiment, but a very explicit one too, and is definitely not for those who are unsure.

Anyway, I commented on the WEMS story, and I honestly think it's one of the very best stories in the fandom, for its genre and overall, for the quality of the writing. It's absolutely exquisite, and I try to learn from it in my own writing, with varying degrees of success. I can't wait for another sequel, but don't rush it! :scootangel:

But Cloudy Skies!
I want...no, need...more Twidash!:applecry:
Look, the sky is beginning to cloud up...
