Well, do they? I admit, I'm not ENTIRELY left out, as 'What do you do with a Drunken Unicorn?' did inspire a great pic! Still, given my own lack of arty abilities, I'm always appreciative and/or envious of those that can draw pretty pictures. So, y'know, if you've got friends who can draw pretty pony pics, suggest they read some of my work sometime! That's all I ask, and I feel rather shameless in doing so anyway, but still. ;) Beats trawling Ponibooru for appropriate cover images, at least!
Really though, blogs are pretty inherently shameless, but I digress. In any case, status reports!
I'm currently working steadily on a new chapter of 'Friendship is More than Meets the Eye.' It's proving slightly different, as I'm splitting the perspective just slightly, but I think it's coming along well. There will be chaos. I occasionally wonder how deep I could get into TF references, but I've been pulling myself back from some of the really silly metatextual stuff. Barely. :)
As I mentioned before, I've got a bit written on a 'morning after' sequel to 'Twilight Sparkle vs. Bridle Zilla.' It's far from finished, but I'm vaguely considering a title along the lines of "Nopony Loves Twilight Sparkle, or something of the sort.
And I've got at least two more fics in the 'idea' stage. One of which would be a more farcical piece, like Vengeance and Fashion, with the focus on AJ & Rarity. I really enjoy writing these two, if you haven't noticed. I've even got vague ideas for scandalous Learning Curves-esque business as well, but I don't want to tip my hand too early.
The other idea I have would focus on Rainbow Dash, and her desire for fame (or, really, attention in general). All explored in an amusing way, of course. But I may have to do a little bit of research first, just so I know what direction to take it.
And all of this is on top of the occasional non-pony writing I do, as well. Fancy that! In any case, if any of the potential story bits I've mentioned so far have caught your attention, lemme know, and I just might get the stuff you request written and edited to a point of being halfway readable! :)

Well, Drunken Unicorn, Benefits and Cap Cloudsdale are the only fics of your I have read so most of this goes over my head.
I do plan on reading More than Meets the Eye soon though.

Hm. I'm a bit (read super-extremely) anal about characterization when it comes to Rainbow Dash. IMO "fame" is the wrong word to describe what RD is all about. "Recognition" is much more accurate a term.
I don't know anything about cool kids these day. I found worrying about being cool is a wait of time and worry. But I feel your pain in lacking the artistic talent. I have lots of lovely pictures in my head that I would love to share with the would, but I can't. I do have a sister who can draw, so I can get some of the amazing pictures in my head made.
Um... Considering I can't draw, I usually digitally create it or steal it off of deviantArt... Putting the artist's credit on the description, of course.
I don't have fanart, so that probably supports your hypothesis.
My story's fanart, I simply asked if I could use it as the cover piece. I am intensely jealous of those who can either 1. draw or 2. have fanart drawn specifically of their stuff.
I have been trying to learn to draw but it is slow going. Largely because instead of practicing art in drawing fanart for pony fanfiction I am reading more pony fanfiction.
