(Episode starts.)
Awesome. A song right at the get-go.
(Episode continues.)
Hmm. Interesting. Oh my gawd, more songs!
(Keep on going.)
Hmm, quite a simple solution. Me gusta mucho! MORE EPIC SONGS!
Woah... Harmonic death ray... Well, THAT escalated quickly.
(Allow black out for commercial break)
Ah, shit. Here comes Celestia.
More song? I guess I'll hear you out...
WHAT THE FUCK?! NOOOOOOOO-
Wait, her friends are cool with it? Rainbow and Twilight, flying buddies? I'm cool with that. *Implied Twidash, YESH*
Oh great, here's Celestia again.
Twilight... priorities...
Canterlot, coronation, celebration.
Oh, Celestia taught you about friendship? She better start teaching you about grief before your friends die.
Always grateful? Remember that promise a thousand years later, Twi.
Okay, so you're a princess, all powerful, gonna get a shit ton of guards soon, gonna live for a VERY long time, if not forever, your friends who got you there are going to die, you will cry, and you might forget about them once your memory spans the millennium.
But you're singing about everything being fine, so maybe it's the team speaking out to us bronies that, yes, everything is indeed going to be fine.
Oh god, I hope so. Season 3 freaking sucked.
Okay, so I said I would give this episode a chance and I did. And the episode was AMAZING up until Celestia walked in. Right about at the 12-14 minute mark.
Freakin' Celestia.
Still, I'll admit this episode wasn't bad. I won't quit the fandom. I will try to come to terms with Twilight alicorn (but I'm never calling her Princess). I will still hope that she will get turned back into a unicorn, or at least NOT an immortal princess, in Season 4, until it is explicitly stated otherwise. Which it probably was in the season finale but I was too much in denial. Probably get my hopes completely crushed as soon as Season 4 starts.
Oh yeah, Season 4.
BRING IT ON!
Development team, I hope you learned something from Season 3. Stop making shitty episodes.
Pwease?

833593 Thanks, dude. You made me laugh.

Dang. I'm probably not even going to watch the finale now...
834285 If you want, you can watch up to the part where they are all completely changed back and pretend that's the end of the episode. Cause that's what it felt like. Two episodes just thrown together in 22 minutes.
Maybe alicorns aren't ALL immortal. I mean, Cadance married Shining. I think that you could do an Arwen-and-Aragorn thing, where alicorns are immortal unless they fall in love with a mortal. That's what I'd do.
835065 That's kinda something some people are saying. That alicorns aren't immortal, they're just long lived. I don't see how that's any better, other than she'll EVENTUALLY join her friends again.
*sigh*
I've already done my ranting in a reply on Kits' blog, but I pretty well agree with the 'first 12 minutes or so = great, remaining time sucks' feel. So many plot holes, so many problems, so much of a rushed feeling! On the other hand, more support for Twidash is a wonderful thing. I'm not going to pretend it isn't my favorite ship.
I'm just hoping for something along the lines of 'changeling induced dream', 'Discord prank', or 'subconscious's denial while corrupted Twilight has gone insane and taken over in real life'. It doesn't even have to come from the show, I'll settle for some fan-fictions of these ideas. Alternate finale fics sound like they could be good reading too, especially ones where the cutie-mark switching spell affected Twilight somehow too.

Maybe not long-lived. Maybe the process of alicornification is different than being born an alicorn?
And besides, if you think about, there would have to be one of the Mane Six to see all of the others die. One of them will have to be the last to die, and even if Twilight is immortal, it's no sadder than it would have been eventually.
And more to the point, if Twilight lives longer than her friends (even if it's in the thousands), then she won't ever have to leave Spike, like so.

839169 I don't know if it's different. I've been led to believe that alicorns aren't born, they're made, but I could be mistaken about that.
And how old do dragons get anyway?
839228 Well, the show hasn't told us, so we can run with whatever we want. That's the joy of fanfiction.
I don't know, but the dragon in Dragonshy was going to hibernate for a thousand years, so it could be several thousand years.
840065 Seems legit.
Wow General. I never realized that you were such a pessimist. Am I the only one here who enjoyed the episode?
841680 But I did enjoy the episode. Didn't you see? I was loving it until Celestia walked in.
Then boom. Almost instant dislike.
844957 I enjoyed it the whole way. What about Celestia made you dislike it so?
845310 It was because I knew what she was gonna do. At the time, I was almost totally against alicorn Twilight, so when I saw Celestia enter the scene I blew up at the episode.
I'm no longer bitter, but I'm still not quite one hundred percent okay with alicorn Twilight. I'm still hoping that the process is gonna get reversed in the next two episodes.
But if it doesn't, then it had better be a fucking amazing episode that convinces me that she's still the same. Not the shit that composed half of Season 3.
