It's the obligatory new year blog post.

And yes, I am posting this at around midnight on new year. I have a nasty cold, so I decided to disobey nurgle's one command and stay home.

    Just for kicks

I'm mucking around with Lulu for a work-related project (very boring stuff) and thought I would do a quality test with something fun.

Or maybe that comma is in the wrong place. I haven't decided yet.

    The odd things

I've just been reading through old comments on my scraps story, after publishing yet another chunk from the ancient cutting room floor. It's remarkable how many of the commenters are still around - but also how many logged off for the last time, soon after making their last comment there.

    But in brighter news

While I'm not making any promises about any particular project here, I am actually writing again. I figure if I write enough of something, some pony words might drop out somewhere along the line as well. You never know. What I'm working on at the moment is essentially a re-write of a story I read a long time ago; an old pulp sci-fi tale, about a spaceship that manages to get lost in the

Good morning folks, how ab- dafuq? · 9:02am Feb 7th, 2013

>post older story to try and kick-start it again
>don't expect much to come of it
>go to bed, dream of kittens chasing chocolate bars
>no kitten, don't eat that bar, it's full of holy god alkaloid and you will die!
>wake up
>story is in feature box
>spit coffee everywhere

Apparently I'm doing something right...

There are elements of that particular story that I wasn't too satisfied with when I paused writing it. The opening in particular (as at least one reader has pointed out) is a bit telly over showy. I'll likely have to re-write it at some point regardless of whatever else I do.

Also I hit a wall. The next chapter, the one I haven't posted, has sat on my computer for about six months frozen in the middle of a very forced argument between Twilight and Applejack. The reason for the argument and in fact the whole central conflict of the story was jealousy, but I hadn't handled it even remotely right and that's why it kind of fell apart. And why I stopped writing at the time.

I had ideas for how to go forward with the plot but they diverged quite significantly from the outline I'd written. In addition the whole thing has been rather screwed over by season 3 in lots of little ways. On the other hand, canon is there to be ignored. :twilightoops: Since it seems quite popular I shall endeavour to continue with season 3 in mind. In fact it's already introduced ideas that I hadn't previously considered... I think I can work with this.

Good luck! Heh, I bet you'll reconsider what you submit the next time.

Also I hit a wall.

I know that feel. Have a story right now 'in production' that's set 20 years after Equestria's founding. Going to be this big three way racial war caused by Discord, through the eyes of an earth pony soldier, pegasus soldier, and a unicorn medic. 8 chapters, 25k words. The war's just about to kick off...

And I've lost my muse. Probably haven't touched the thing in 5 months.

I hear that, I’ve been having much trouble with my attempt at writing. I popped out the first three chapters rather quickly but then I hit chapter four… so far I’ve rewritten that four times.

In addition the whole thing has been rather screwed over by season 3 in lots of little ways.

I will assume by 'whole thing' you mean 'My Little Pony'. :trollestia:

When a wall hits you, hit back with C-4.
