Winter Update for Sunset of Battle

Going to be a short update.

Chapters 15 and 16 are in the final editing phases now. I'm waiting to publish anything however until after chapters 17 and 18 are done so I have the latitude to tweak 15 and 16 as needed. Once the current story arc is finished I'll start posting the chapters on a weekly basis.

    That is all...

    Like I said; short update.

    XD

    A minor alteration...

I made a minor edit to the most recent chapter. There were two little words that had become a massive pain in my arse working on the next chapter. They were, 'to her'. :twilightangry2: It was leading to rabbit holes of character arguments that spiraled into hellish domains where finding a feasible 'out' for Sunset grew dire indeed. After several attempts I've decided to just rip out the root

Nearing the end of Schola Arc, and future planning.

So, as I begin to near the final rise in action for the schola arc of Sunset of Battle I'm looking more and more ahead to what I want to do with the story and where to go next. My general plan is to do a time-skip to when they are novitiates and start the next arc in-media res. But what to do and who to have as the antagonists?

Shipping sub-plot for Myths? Oh, and some other stuff. · 7:44am Jan 22nd, 2013

Provocative title is provocative...?

So, I'm back home after a longer vacation than expected. Turns out I managed to avoid getting that plague I mentioned a couple blogs ago. Yay! This means that, so long as games don't distract me, my time is devoted to writing again. Actually... that isn't much of a change from my vacation now that I think about it... :facehoof:

Now, onto the important part of the blog! I've been toying with the idea of including a little shipping sub-plot into Myths. It's an exceedingly common pairing, and it would have greater relevance beyond shipping for the sake of shipping. In this case, it's FlutterMac. The reason I am considering including this sub-plot is the added depth it could bring (if I manage things right) to Fluttershy's eventual development. For being mentioned in the Synopsis of Myths, poor Fluttershy hasn't had much to do or had her involvement really explored yet. Since chapter 2 she's barely even been mentioned. This is my fault. I failed to anticipate how much word space dealing with other aspects of the story and character development would require. Going by my original story-boarding and plotting, Part 2 should be wrapping up in Chapter 10. Part 2 will just be entering its stride the way things are actually progressing. Fluttershy, along with Trixie and Shyara, wasn't going to be mentioned during Part 2, instead Part 2 would focus entirely on Talona, and Part 3 on Shyara. I believe there is a saying about plans and contact with the enemy that is applicable.

Anyways, my rambling aside, what I'm mostly curious about is how people would feel if I made the attempt to include the FlutterMac ship. I know shipping is a touchy subject for some. Basically, I'm gaging potential reactions. I can't say I am confident I could pull such a ship off properly, and that fear more than anything would be the mostly likely cause for abandoning the idea.

Moving on: Sins of the Ancients is in a creative rut and is sadly being drowned out by Myths. I know I should get off my tushie and finish that story. I owe its fans that much given how close to completion it is and how persistent their support has been. Shoot, without them, I would probably have abandoned The Longest Night/Myths/Writing. But I really got myself stuck in a corner with SotA and the only way I can see to get myself out is by pulling some not-to-subtle shenanigans. I've also been toying with an extended version of Tiger Bloom's Chapter 7. But, again, Myths is such a monolith in my mind as I track its numerable plots and ideas that I don't have the time to really dedicate to touching TB up for a final attempt at getting the story on EqD. :facehoof:

I say, screw it and go for adding the ship.

Don't screw with my ships and I won't be the one after your blood.

Fluttermac ship in a fic =Instafav!

FlutterMac ?
How could you this is terrible Fluttershy belongs with [-insert name here-] waaaaaah
Go for it, it's your story :rainbowlaugh:

as long as it's a sub-plot there are very few ships which i can't take, so go ahead if you want to.

I really don't mind shipping as long as it isn't too cloppy, mostly heterosexual, and not trans-species(I mean human ships).

As a sub-plot, I don't see why not. Go for it.

I guess as long as you don't just shove the two of them together without some fostering of the relationship I'm alright with it... but again this is YOUR story. So if you feel like there's some FlutterMac in the story and it helps further the story then by all means push on! :twilightsheepish:

I think it would be me first FlutterMac, so go ahead with it!

Well, sounds like you're all okay with my attempting this sub-plot. Or those of you who read my blog at least. :twilightblush: I'm not going to make any promises on it 'sticking'. Well, I need to get back to writing. Chapter 9 is being taken back to almost square one after comparing it to my notes, where I want the story to go, and so forth. :facehoof: So, expect a longer than usual delay between chapters.

Sorry. :fluttershyouch:

As long as you don't go on a year long hiatus I think we'll be fine. Although that's happened to me on my favorite fic and it only made the next update all the sweeter. Please take all the time you need to write the story to your satisfaction.

Hmmm, is 'Sharing the Night' the fic you're talking about? Because I was so happy to see it had updated. The influence and inspiration that story has had on Myths is very plainly obvious. If it isn't 'Sharing the Night', I highly recommend reading that story. :moustache: I just hope it isn't several months before the next chapter... :twilightangry2:

The fic I was mentioning is actually in a different fandom, but if 'sharing the night' left such an impression on you I might give it a try!

As long as it is done well, I have no complaint as long as it doesn't upset your plans. I know that even the most careful constructed plot lines can fall with small changes, and that scrambling to fix them is a giant pain (and scary too) Don't do anything you aren't completely comfortable with.:raritywink:

I vote no FlutterMac. I have no problem with the pairing, or any ShipFic in general, but randomly(or not so randomly) introducing romantic sub-plots is a good way to Jump the Shark. This fic(to me) is about the adventure and the mystery. Extra FlutterMac would just clutter and take up time, not add depth.
