Still pecking away on Midnight Rising and Feathered Hearts... · 9:09pm May 24th
The two Lemon Zest chapters of Midnight Rising have now reached 26,600 words and they’re still nowhere near done, with probably another 5-6k words to go. Gotta treat the girl right, after all, and also make sure there’s plenty of sexy side dishes around her. And as for Feathered Hearts?
The chapter is ready to go except for finishing the pictures and an additional editing pass. I’ve done five images so far, but there’s a second set with fresh graphics needed to show the local situation around Aricia. I tried to put unit symbols in last weekend, but found they cluttered the images too much. I’m going to try again with them this weekend with a slightly different method, but if that still isn’t satisfactory, they’ll have to go without for the sake of viewability.
Fortunately, I’ve got a three-day weekend for Memorial Day starting tomorrow, so I should have plenty of chance to work on both stories. I wish I could turn these out quicker, but there’s some other, more personal issues on my plate right now. I’ll be damned if they make me stop working on these, though, especially so close to fruition. But since you’ve been so patient, here’s what the base map of Aresia currently looks like:
If it’s hard to read in places, remember that you can click on the image to expand it. As for the brown shading, it’s for a very story-specific reason. Namely, the map table they’ll be observing for the War Council meeting is made of a layer of sand that will be manipulated by a Magus to display this and other maps. So it has to look like it’s made out of sand.
And here’s an example map showing one stage of the Cloven invasion, with conquered areas shaded black:
As you can see, the initial stages of the invasion are from the western and southern coastlines inward. Don’t worry, all this will be explained and expanded upon in the chapter. Just wanted to show folks the progress and how far this little side project has come. So please continue to be patient. I promise chapters of both stories are well on the way. And for my American friends and readers, have a very good Memorial Day weekend.
I have some of your stories bookmarked for reading later, but with a map like that, it made me want to jump in head first.
Ibearia doesn't feel so good.![:pinkiesick:](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/pinkiesick.png)
Wow, I may have just missed it, but I didn't realize the geography was supposed to match real-life Earth. So is Arnau basically Geneva?
The maps are awesome work.
For unit Symbols, i have two ideas for you: opaque and or simple hand drawn symbols/or numbers with a legend at one side
