Generation 5 OC Reveal-Sunny's mom! · 11:32pm March 4th

A common topic of discussion in the Generation 5 community is who was Sunny's mother, given she not only never appears on screen, she's never even mentioned; there doesn't even seem to be a photo of her in the Lighthouse, which is a bit odd for numerous reasons.

Numerous theories have been proposed, ranging from her being a unicorn:

Sunny Starscout notices an old photo of an unfamiliar mare posing next to her father. Sunny wonders if that mare was her mother.

After years of exploring Equestria in search of a way to reunite the three pony tribes, the unicorn Shining Star finally returns to Maretime Bay. Her goal: to reunite with her daughter, the pony who helped bring magic back to Equestria.

A theory video suggesting Argyle and Phyllis used to be married:

And even darker suggestions that she was the victim of state-sponsored terror:

And now myself and ThomlightSparkle 1 are proud to contribute to this discussion. We now present:

Goldenella 'Goldie' Starshine.

Here's a quick bio for this pony:

Goldie was born into a fairly prominent family in Earth Pony territory, one on a similar level to the Cloverleafs. Despite being incorporated into the social attitudes of her society early on, she never really bought into the racism towards the other tribes, something which caused others to consider her a bit odd.

Despite this, many stallions were attracted to her looks. Many were surprised, therefore, when she entered into a relationship with Argyle, whom many regarded as the village idiot with strange ideas. However, the pair were a match made in heaven for one another, sharing views on the past of Equestria. Goldie was also drawn to his kind and generous nature (a good match for her own generosity), not to mention his preference for solving problems through intelligence and generosity.

As a result, nobody was surprised when they tied the knot a few years into their relationship. Moving into a renovated lighthouse that had been in Argyle's family for generations, their married life was, put simply, blissfully happy, with Argyle settling into a research role whilst Goldie became the primary breadwinner. A few years after that, the family grew in size when their daughter, Sunny, was born. Despite some prejudice from locals, it seemed things were truly on the up for them.

And then one day- Goldie vanished.

Nopony was truly aware of what had happened. Argyle, of course, was distraught and tried to find her, but the authorities were infuriatingly slow to act and the police seemed disinterested- wilfully ignorant, Argyle suspected, given they responded incredibly quickly to anything related to the Cloverleafs. Argyle was desperate to find her, and searched all over, to no avail. Although there was no trace of her in the region, he never lost hope that his beloved Goldie would return to him.

Days turned to weeks, then to months, and then to years. Argyle passed away, and Sunny was left all alone. So much time had passed since she had vanished that the authorities had declared Goldie dead.

So imagine Sunny's surprise when her mother suddenly stumbled back into her life. Far from being dead, Goldie had somehow ended up in other lands, roaming through places no Earth Pony had been in centuries, and returning with new tales to tell. Keen to reconnect with her child, Goldie was delighted to discover that the world she had dreamed of was now a reality, and is keen to support her child and the community in any way she can.

As you can see from the above illustration, Goldie's cutie mark is a blue shield with a gold star. I'll let Thomlight explain this bit:

The Golden Star - That showcases how she is a kind individual with a golden heart and is pretty respectful to everyone around (At least those who deserve that is).
The Shield - It represents her side to be a protective individual not just as Mother to Sunny, but her willingness to help others. It adds in with her being a business gal, she uses her resources to provide help for those who really need it.

Anthro and EqG versions of this character are to follow, so watch this space!
