    Well, color me impressed.

All 78 episodes on 2 discs, the translation is just as solid as the Hulu version, the subtitles are on by default, and they even translated the mid-episode character cards.

So I've been busy away from ponies... Again...

With my quest/race to get a Rainbow S on all of Freedom Planet 2's stages, my creativity lit up like a bonfire again, and I started crafting an alternate ending of sorts for the past week.

That story is now complete, and posted in its entirety over on AO3.

Well, since a portion of the internet is blowing up about it... · 3:55am February 10th

...Here's my two cents on the Coyote Vs Acme drama:

WB's $70m price tag on the film is, bluntly and honestly, pretty fair. They want to recoup the cost of making the film, and then the risk of whether or not that money is made back through the box office, physical sales, and streaming revenue falls on whatever studio that bought it.

If that's not a gamble the interested studios wanted to take at that price, we can't fault WB for not taking it either.

Don't get me wrong; it absolutely sucks that everyone that worked on the film likely won't see their work released to the general public, but at the end of the day, they were paid for that work, regardless of what happens to it in the end.

Seriously what’s it gonna take to get Zaslav fired?

The locating, securing, and total destruction of whatever blackmail material it is that he's got on everyone.

I guess, but it sucks that we won’t be able to see it. Say what you will about Disney, but at least they’re not outright cancelling completed movies. This is like the third one that WB has outright canned.

Tax writeoffs are a helluva drug.

Honestly, while it is sad that the movie will never get seen, people wouldn't be taking umbrage if Zaslav wasn't as half as controversial as he is. But still, sad meep meep

The cynic in me thinks that if WB doesn't have enough faith in the movie to release it, it's probably for the best that we don't get to see it. Hell, if I wanted to be extra cynical, I would suggest that their decision to mothball the movie is actually just a publicity stunt, and that they'll eventually "walk back" the decision and release it.

That aside, anyone crossing their fingers that the full movie will be leaked? (Also, just so I'm not mistaken, the movie is finished, right?)

Makes me wonder if people are wanting to cancel Hollywood.

What does that have to do with this?

5767527
With how much people are complaining about cancelled stuff being tax write offs and mediocre to plain bad releases, I wonder if this will lead up to a petition for cancelling Hollywood as a whole.

5767529

No, it's not worth "canceling" Hollywood over them not releasing content that consumers haven't even paid for anyway. If Hollywood didn't get canceled over the Harvey Weinstein scandal, this shouldn't spur that kind of outrage.

I very much agree with this. Hollywood is too big, ubiquitous and powerful to be "cancelled" (why people keep using that term, I have no idea, but what do I know), and it can almost certainly survive this. That said, with the way WB is going now, it's going to take a miracle for them to recover their reputation. Dare I say, DISNEY is more respectable than them at this very moment.

Oh no. A bunch of keyboard warriors who constantly overestimate their popularity and intelligence verses a mega corporation with an army of lawyers a phone call away. Who would win?

Well, there's no need to be sarcastic here, nor is there a need to hype up corporations and insult someone like that...🤔

Fiscally, the premise probably didn't stand the best chance, but I've honestly heard nothing but praise for the film itself from the few who've seen it. Granted, that could just be exaggeratedly supportive, Streisand-afflicted puffery, but it stands in stark contrast to prior Zaslav casualty Batgirl, whose own appraisals ranged from merely "Decent by superhero standards" to the worst-case "Utterly unsalvageable".

In any case, the fact that it's supposedly a cut or two above the prior write-offs — and entirely finished, for that matter — makes it all the more frustrating it's about to meet the same fate, especially after the prolonged illusion of hope. (Believe me, I wish this was all a stunt, but if it was, the initial November walkback would've been the end of it; it's dragged on too long for me to feel like that's the case.)

Yet another reason I don't watch a lot of mainstream media anymore, too much corporate bullshit anymore.
