"Do you do story requests?" (An Answer) · 10:03pm Dec 3rd, 2023

Sometimes fimfic writers receive messages like

Do you do story requests?

If you hope someone might write the story you want, you have a lot of options.
- You can post the story idea in a forum of a relevant, appropriate fimfic group, and hope some writer falls in love with it.
- You can blog the idea.
- You can describe the idea in an appropriate discord server, and invite people to write a story around it.
- You can CREATE a group for the idea.
- You can set up a story contest, and invite people to try to write the BEST story about the idea.
- You can send people the story idea and offer to pay them money for writing it ('Pay 50% or more of the total in advance, please!' say a lot of fimfic commission writers.)
- You can offer to pay or compensate someone in a NON-monetary way for the idea.

But telling someone you have a request AND not even telling them what the request is...is not the most effective way to get what you want.

If you really want someone to write your story idea, at least give the writer an opportunity to fall in love with your idea, placing in their way as few obstacles as possible.

Sincerely,
a lot of people who write fimfics

Or simply hunt for people who want to try new chalanges in writing and tell them the idea, that or do it yourself, then just chalange the rest to fix your fic
But never request a fic

so true bestie

Thank youuuuu for the PSA to the requesters.

You say a lot of good things here; however, re:

,
I imagine some people who contact you are politely floating whether they can even make a request. It is less confrontational for someone who has not communicated with a person much before to ask "do you take requests, and may I forward my idea to you?" Than to demandingly send someone a list of "here's five ideas I have, please write one of them." (Note: I do not write requests.)

You omitted at least one option:

- Write for Jinglemas and request a story.
