haha *perishes* (also a big status update) · 8:12am Dec 3rd, 2023
don'tcha love it when you get smacked in the face with a cold right at the beginning of the month?
anyways i wrote 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo and the fic i'm writing isn't particularly done yet.
in particular, it's my Fractures project, formerly called the "Untitled Tonkusverse Story" project. It's an action-adventure original fiction that draws from concepts that I've used across a number of my fics here on Fimfiction, and features the usual cast of characters that I tend to find myself writing in Lisa, Zoey, and Caleb, plus a number of new OCs such as Bismuth and Former Royal Chef Suma. You'll never guess what his full name is or what it means.
the big problemo is that original fiction part. until Knighty decides to finally launch a certain general fiction site that ties in with fimfic, there's no easy way to share my current big project with yall without needing to move sites entirely. I'm of course still gonna be here on horsewords dot net, i'm planning on wrapping up What If by the end of this year with multiple chapter updates per day before launching What If 2.
But, I can't non-pony content in anything other than blog posts, and that's not all that great of a reading experience IMO.
So, I present y'all with a poll. How would you like to read my first big original-fiction project in years?
- Wattpad (I'm quite sure a good number of y'all would be familiar with this site)
- Inkitt (idk it just seems like a neat place, though i've heard that it's best to avoid their offers to publish and sell copies of your work because of some predatory contract stuff)
- Offprint (i have a personal stake in the site as a story approver, but it's also coming close to its big 1.0 update with a major site revamp. at the moment i'd say that it's the closest thing conceptually to the whole "genfic" idea that's been floating around here for ages.
- Blog posts here on Fimfiction (I'd have to manually set up chapter lists and stuff but it's doable I guess. Also probably the easiest to access for y'all)
- Tumblr (on a dedicated blog)
- Random Google Docs link set to "view only" (no ability to comment)
- Standalone website on Neocities (also no ability to comment but I could pull some fancy formatting stunts that otherwise are only available on Fimfiction)
- Yes/All of the above
- Do what you want idk
- Vanilla Extract (you know I had to do it)
- idk man i'm just here for the screaming purple unicorns
Probably Wattpad
Oddly enough my preference is Tumblr, but I'm not sure how solid your engagement would be.
Wattpad or Tumblr for me as i frequent both.
