    an update

Hi all. I hope everyone is doing well. I've been taking an extended break from FimFiction lately. Had some undesirable interactions with some users. That coupled with some of my creative frustrations just makes logging on... kind of unpleasant? If I do log on, it's usually to try and catch up with the fics I'm reading and then I quickly log off. I'm just feeling drained with the MLP fanfic

It was my birthday yesterday! I'd meant to post the day of, but honestly, I was so tired and busy I just didn't have much time or energy to sit at my computer. Wanna hear a funny story or two, plus see the new playlist I made for Sassaflash? Get it after the jump!

    ponies fix everything

New chapter for What They Hope to Find is out! I talk about what's next after the jump, but before that, a quick anecdote:

Last night, my family was having trouble finding something to watch together. My nine-year-old son didn't have any ideas, but he pretty much shot down every suggestion we had. Eventually, out of frustration and half-serious, I say, "Let's just watch ponies."

    Jinglemas! And Rarijack!

I'm participating in this year's Jinglemas! It's a cute fic exchange that happens every year. I requested a rare pair ship, three guesses which. :twilightsheepish: Today is the last day to join, so if you want in on it, be sure to read over the rules and PM Shakespearicles!

Some more writing updates. I think I might have a completed rough draft for Eerie Lantern's sixth chapter. I may still change the last portion of it. I think I made a mistake on the POV for the final segment and will switch it to someone else so that the chapter ends with more oomph. I still need to do a lot to spice the draft up and eliminate any glaring typos before I post, but a Halloween update is starting to feel incredibly possible now.

As for What They Expect to Give, it's at 8395 words right now. I kinda eased up on getting that done to put more time into Eerie. Not only that, but I even started some weird one-shot side story with Rarity and Pinkie that I wasn't expecting to do. I'm sort of resurrecting an old idea I'd had for them a long time ago, but I'm changing it to fit my current vision for the story better. I'm not really sure how to describe it. Hopefully, it'll be out sometime in November. I may make it a gray story, like WTHTF, but we'll see. It's not really a priority at the moment, though. Another thing I got done was I finally (FINALLY) finished editing Chapters 10 and 11 for WTETG. Mostly the text just reads a little smoother and has stronger visual descriptions, but Chapter 11 does add a little bit of info about Windy Whistles (Rainbow's mom) that wasn't there before.

What They Hope to Find also eked out a tiny bit more progress. I completed the necessary scene for the next chapter, but I'm just sort of letting it cool on the shelf so that mistakes jump out at me better when I try to revise in earnest. This also took a backseat to getting Eerie done in time.

I'm sick with some awful upper respiratory something that gave me laryngitis and I feel like trash right now. I tested, it's not COVID. There was some haunted trail attraction I might take my son to, but I'm still not sure if I'm up for it.

It's been really nice writing. I hope I don't lose steam. When I do post, feedback always helps to keep me motivated, so please do share your thoughts when the time comes!
