Recently, I've had the very fortunate chance to ask Sherwood for something small. I can't thank him enough for taking the time to do this for me since I understand how busy life can be. Above that, I understand now too how difficult it was for him to accept my request. Despite everything, he still managed to honor what I asked of him, thrice over. So to him, I thank him from my inner depths!

The illustrations this time around were not too complicated and were not meant for any particular moment. Really, all I wanted was to see Chrys be depicted in more unique styles and ways by different artists. And so it was a no brainer that I'd at least bring it up to him to see if he'd be willing. Above the beautiful and illustrious art, he is also able to create masterfully wholesome and wonderful stories of his own. And for that, he has my utmost respect. On the topic of his art though, I did want to speak of it a little. Maybe you noticed, but his art is not all digital! In a world increasingly dominated by digital art and a fandom driving that technological wedge further with its furthering reliance on AI created images, I found his traditional pencil drawings to be that much more meaningful and beautiful as a result. You can try and emulate the raw aesthetic of real drawings with technology, but it will never compare. That same mantra extends to AI. It can try to emulate real people's digital art, but at least in my lifetime, I doubt it will ever.

But yeah, I hope you all feel as strongly and positively as I do of his unique and picture-book art style. It has a level of wholesome charm you're just not going to get to see often. I will be featuring one of these pictures of Chrys in The Small Hero Within Us, since she will be one of three deuteragonist of the story and could likely use an early depiction for people to see what she looks like, rather than just read about it.
