I forgot to mention... I have this group. You'd probably like it too! · 6:06pm Oct 6th, 2023
Do you love the concepts of the show, the more serious implications of world-building, and the easy libraries to find topics that interest you? Have you ever read a story with an exciting idea that wasted it for a gag? Did you ever see something that would make a fascinating headcanon, if only it was done in a way that played out more seriously? Well, this is the group for you.
"X Handled Seriously" welcomes writers of any skill level and eager readers of all kinds. The entire purpose of the group is devoted to finding concepts on the site handled in a way that is serious instead of for shits and giggles. We accept stories about elaborate magic systems, gritty depictions of war, political themes, the inclusion of autistic characters, and optimistic stories about recovery from various issues. There is a folder for handling almost any topic -- whether it's as dark as rape or as positive as elaborating on canon character redemptions to fill in the gaps of the show. You can find fantasy world cultural conflicts written with care instead of milked for laughs or hand-waved as uninteresting background noise. You can find stories that seriously dig into lessons about self-esteem or bullying. If there are aspects of Equestrian society you've always wanted to see fleshed out -- like how crime is handled, what it means to be a ruler, and how power can be abused in society -- you'll find all of those too. Topic folders range in what the general 'seriousness' of the topic will be -- a story about what it would be like for Equestria to have veterans will not be the same as a child learning a dream lesson with Princess Luna. However, stories vary even more. There is a thread for folder suggestions and various folders are filled with descriptive summaries to guide users on their content expectations.
There is no rule about an author's skill level or when a story was published. If you find a story, you're encouraged to share it and even spam the folders with stories you've read to help the group grow. Stories featuring both fantasy, realism, and blends of the two can be found in the folders. People who do so and are diligent about following the rules and adding stories will be promoted. Rules are easy to follow: put things in the correct folders, follow site rules, don't put the wrong kind of stories in the group, and don't put anything that promotes something heinous in the group. Everything else is secondary. We welcome everyone.
