^ Me, impatiently waiting for MYM Chapter 6.
Spoilers for Make Your Mark Chapter 5 below the break!
So, the first half of this shortened six-episode chapter was largely focused on Misty, and honestly, they did a terrific job.
Apart from that, we've got several more nods to G4, in the form of breezies, a portrait of Shining Armor, and an elder unicorn related to Moondancer.

We've also got a heart-shaped jewel locket that is doing nothing but reminding me of the fire ruby that Spike gave Rarity.
Also, to Posey:
So, you just got unquestioningly violated by dark magic, you ran off screaming, and then... Didn't. Tell. Anypony?
Part of me wants to feel sorry for you, and another part of me... Just... Ugh, you dumb bitch.
I myself did enjoy this latest chapter, but I can relate with some frustrating moments that occurred. The thing that upset me the most is that Misty still decided to stay with Opaline, albeit as a spy, and that we only got a snippet on the fact Alphabittle is her father. I'm glad it's official now but I feel like it didn't go anywhere aside from a few flashbacks and mentions of the past. As much as I've been enjoying G5, I'm still getting frustrated over certain things that have happened with tyt and mym. Hopefully once the next chapter comes, it'll get better as I did notice the writing is getting better, but not 100%.

It's kinda hard to explain. But I still enjoyed it, just wish we got more out of the episode with uts flashbacks.
Yeah, can't complain too much about the Misty-centered episodes. Also appreciate that they didn't make Sparky recover right away from having his magic drained, and it gave us our first real introduction to the dragonlands.
(By the way, MYM, you need to make a new opening title sequence that features Misty as mane cast member.)
That Moon Dancer bit. So judging from the number of greats... maybe a century or two after G4? Though considering Elderberry or whatever her name was hinted at a wedding where everyone was changing into other ponies, I can't help but think G5 is trolling people like me who want this shit timelined.
So Chapter 5 ends in a Nightmare Night episode, after TYT did three Nightmare Night episodes last year after Chapter 2. And they did an episode of Pipp testing and launching a new cosmetic product, which TYT does all the time lately. Honestly, that episode was the one that fell flat for me. So we start with four episodes that further develop Misty, and flesh out both the world and its connection to G4. Then we get a filler/SoL-type episode with Pipp and her business. Then the Nightmare Night episode where Opaline finds a way into Equestria and can start stealing magic.
Now to be fair, if Chapter 5 had more episodes to it, then we'd have gotten more episodes like this one that center on one or two characters and put the main story arc on pause for a bit. But since we had only six episodes and five of them were very important to the overarching plot, this one sort of broke the pace for me. I mean, either that or we're already getting enough of Pipp and her cosmetics tinkering from TYT.
Yeah, when episode 6 ended with Opaline in possession of Posey's cutie mark, I went over and checked Chapter 6's release date (two months). So yeah, that's a place to end on. So what happens when Posey realizes it's not coming back? Is it a Tirek situation where all of her magic is gone, or a Starlight situation where it's just the cutie mark (oh geez, Secrets of Starlight)? Does Misty risk outing herself as double (triple?) agent to steal back the cutie mark? With 4-5 episodes to go until Chapter 6, is TYT going to avoid this cliffhanger like the plague?
The chapter was definitely better in a way, and I think it has more high quality than before (most noticeably during the intro in the part where Hitch runs out of the office and the bird puts his badge on him) although I might just be seeing things...
On another note, we DO have more evidence supporting the possibility that Opaline was mentored by Tirek (or somebody connected to Tirek) in her youth. The "Stealing magic right down to the Cutie Mark" stuff was straight out of Tirek's playbook.
And, in Posey's "defense", she probably didn't tell anybody because, given how much the universe seems to like messing with her, she didn't think telling anybody would have helped anyway.

For what it's worth, I quite enjoyed Mane Smelody. Makes me want an episode around Sunny's smoothie stand.

Ok. I managed to watch all the episodes before taken a crack on your post.
This is a lot to take in. But I HAAAAAATTTTEEEE how there weren't that many episodes in this chapter. I wanted to know more about the dragon lands and seeing if Ember is still alive. She has to be alive, considering her father in G4 was extremely old.
Poor Posey, though. She's truly become the punching bag of G5. Out of every other pony, she's the one to get the short end of the stick. Now we have to wonder how she'll act around others in the next chapter, and if she'll seek her ultimate revenge against Opaline for taken her cutie mark.
When it came to the Misty episodes, it really was heart warming to see her get back with her real family. Really does feel good that she's finally back home, although now living with Sunny and her friends.
But still, wonder if Opaline casted some sort of memory suppression on her where she couldn't really remember her previous life with her father? Feels like that's the logical theory when it comes to Misty being found by her.

I rather have a few episodes then a bunch of filler.
The Mane 5 were busy with their own thing at the Brighthouse. They not know of Opalines visit yet. The events with Posey only just happened at the same time we are seeing the gang in the Brighthouse, so, most likely, Poesy will come storming in there all up set and tell them what happened start of Ch6.
There is only 3 episodes of Make Your Make left, and 1 Special "Secrets of Starlight". That will end MYM and the Opaline/Misty arch.
Then, for the foreseeable future, it is only Tell Your Tale series.
While, TYT will have a few longer episodes, and a special or two, so been told, that series is closer to its own thing, as it does have times it conflicts with, or has a bit deferent events than MYM. (like how the Marestream came to be). Its much faster paced, humorous style, with the characters turned up a notch in hyper active sillyness, i find hard to take serious, and not sure how well they can further the G5 universe with their style and short 5 min episodes.
But anyways, the feels were so damn strong with the first 4 eps of Ch5. With Misty... just. owwww!
Hope Opaline gets her butt kicked for the many years of abuse she has done to Misty...though, i suspect, things may go the way of, Misty still cares about Opaline, forgives her, and tries to be her friend, and is the key to redeem her.

Even if Posey delays in telling them, for whatever reason ("M-Maybe it'll come back on it's own" or "It was just a Nightmare Night scare, right?"), the Mane 6 will find out quickly. Opaline won't be able to resist gloating about the tree link or the stolen cutie mark, and Misty will report it to her friends the moment she gets a chance. She can even use the tree link to get back faster.

I'm just afraid Misty's mark is going to end up on the tree before this is over.
I definitely enjoyed Chapter 5 for numerous reasons.
1. Misty better integrating with the Mane 5. She's gotten great development and now has a place to stay at the Brighthouse.
2. Some more world building with the return of the Breezies and the first look at the dragon lands. I know it's a bit of a stretch, but maybe we could get at least a reference to whatever became of Spike, Ember, and Smolder. I personally have a headcanon that Sparky is Spike's descendant.
3. Some more references to Gen 4. I find it quite heartwarming that Moondancer eventually fell in love with someone, married him/her, and had kids with them.
4. I LOVE that they had Jazz Hooves (My favorite supporting character) a main role in episode 5. The writers could have easily had Sunny and/or Izzy struggle to admit to Pipp what was going on with her hoof polish; so I give them points for giving her some more screen time. Speaking of which...
5. I'm seriously pushing for Jazz and Rocky to hook up. They have great chemistry together.
It's a shame that Make Your Mark will be coming to an end soon, but I still enjoyed it. As for the wait for Chapter 6...
