Quick Update! State of the Author.. · 2:03am Jun 14th, 2023
Hello everypony!
I just wanted to give you all this quick update on the state of the author here.
Firstly: take a look at my final project for my Historical Preservation class!
I finally finished that epoc of my schooling and have my certificate in historical preservation. I'm still technically doing college stuff though... because of shenanigans with health insurance I am paid up till August, but because it's tied to my schooling I still have to actually take classes. Happily, though, I've decided to take a health class, and work on improving my own physical fitness, with the hope that will help with some of my other health issues as well. Now, if I can just get the damn United Healthcare people to actually honor my claims...
As those of you who have been looking at the calendar, and remember their US history classes well may guess, July is fast approaching and so is the Gettysburg reenactment. It looks like my Artillery unit will have a good turnout there, and my long awaited test by the Officers board for my qualification on the gun. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't more than a little nervous about it!
Once again, to all my LGTBQIA+ readers I want to wish you a happy pride month... and tell you to watch this spot! I am working on finishing a story that I will post a link to in this blog, mostly because I don't have anywhere better to put it, that I hope you will all be interested in. It isn't a pony story, as you may have surmised... but it does involve a certain pair of princesses, and a two-letter fantasy otherworld first written about in the late 19th century! It's got magical mirrors, strange creatures who are good friends, found families, romance, and all the stuff I hope you folks will enjoy even though it's not the usual pony stuff.
I am slightly concerned I won't have it complete before the end of the month, but we'll see what I can do. I have at least the first three stories of the five story collection done already. Let me know if, should I not have it totally complete by when I want to post it, you'd be willing to read it anyhow? I will pair it with a blog post that will also give some lore info for those who are not Ozites like myself.

As for the story, hm. If you don't mind, would you please reply to this comment to ping me when it's out? It sounds interesting, but I'm worried I won't remember to check back here.
...Though from the sound of the length, well, we'll see when I get to it. :D
I'm so behind on reading... though, admittedly, that's kind of been a lifelong condition since I started doing much reading of my own when I was a kid, IIRC.
Oh, actually, have you considered the Sufficient Velocity forums, for posting it? There's a fair bit of variety in the fiction posted there (and I assume you don't want to use another dedicated fanfiction website for some reason (which is fine, to be clear, I just don't currently know the particular reason)).
Oh, though there'll also be a new blog post for it? Okay, good, don't know how long it'll take after that blog post goes up for me to see it, but that should solve the memory issue, at least. :)
(As for whether or not I'd like to read it before it's complete, not sure, but I hope you do manage to complete it when you want.)
(And yeah, I read/was read (not sure what the proportion was) multiple Oz books when I was a kid, still remember some of the lore and details and such, and don't dislike it, but I also wouldn't described myself as a continuing fan; I don't remember just when the last time I thought about it before this blog post was, for instance, but I think it was a while back.)

Don't worry if you can't read it all in one sitting: it's a collection of stories that have a lightly connected plot line, so you can easily read them one at a time. I think the first two chapters are probably the best bits anyways, that I've written so far. This is essentially a preview, and I still am not sure where I'd post it, but if you guys like it I might start looking for somewhere decent to put it for readers new and old to read! For the moment I am testing the waters, and seeing if people like my work outside of pony...
