Random Rambiling: The Necrons · 1:06am Apr 25th, 2023
Hello everyone, and welcome to what to my new blog series, Random Rambiling, where I discuss random subjects and share my knowledge and opinions on them. And it just so happens that the first subject is about everyone's favorite undead egyptian terminators from space...
The Necrons.
First, some basic background. Before the Necrons were the Necrontyr, an ancient race who had shitty lives due to radiation and sickness. The Necontyr, tired of having a shitty existence, sought the secret of immortality from the old ones, who proceeded to flip them the bird and vanish. Needless to say, this pissed off the Necrontyr, who went on to then discover powerful god-like beings known as the C'tan, feeding on stars. Deciding to use these gods to their advantage, the Necrontyr asked them for the secret of immortality as well as aid in destroying the old ones. The C'tan accepted, however the Necrontyr realized their mistake too late as they were dragged in chains into the fires of bio-transference, skin turned to living metal as they became everyone's favorite rattle me bones robots. After this, the C'tan enslaved and sent the Necrons off to beat the shit out of the old ones, and the Necrons did so pretty well, almost rendering the old ones extinct. The old ones then unleashed the Eldar as well as a brand new race known as the Krorks, basically orks but bigger and smarter, against the necrons, who found themselves outnumbered. The C'tan then made a fucky wucky by turning on each other and consuming each other's energy to grow stronger. Seeing an oppurtunity for revenge, the Silent King led the Necrons in revolt, shattering the C'tan into fragments and turning them into essentially pokemon. Then the Silent King told everyone to take a long nap before he fucked off out of the universe. 65 million years later, a random adeptus mechanicus diddled the wrong ancient relic and now the boomer bots are waking up to purge the galaxy of all life.
And that concludes the lore segment. Now let me explain why I personally love the necrons in three simples points.
1. They got dope ass technology.
Aside from possessing advanced plasma weaponry and advanced machines, they also have beings with seemingly magical powers known as Crypteks, masters of Necron technology capable of doing anything from inflicting psychological warfare and manipulating the weather to seeing into the future and controlling time. Hell, they even have a weapon capable of blowing up a star, as if Exterminatus wasn't already overkill enough.
2. Insurmountable drip.
Need I say more?
3. Dope Ass Characters.
From Trazyn the Infinite, a guy who wants to build a giant museum of living dioramas from across time and space frozen in stasis fields, to Toholk the blinded, to Nemosaur Zondrik, to Illuminor Saras. A lot of variety here.
