Story Notes - 'Never Going Back Again' · 9:19pm Apr 2nd, 2023
About a year ago, I played an indie-horror game titled Iron Lung. It's not about space. Despite this, the prologue of the game provides one of the most striking and eeriest introductions to a space-themed horror story out of recent memory, and it was certainly on my mind as I wrote We Can't Ever Go Back to that Denny's Again, Twilight. The idea of being adrift, alone, with only the vaguest context for your own situation and no real assurance you're not the only soul still out there at all... It's all pretty standard space-horror stuff, but something about how it's contextualized there makes it both tangible and abstract simultaneously.
The end result is probably the most fucked up and twisted thing I've done, but I have to say I kinda enjoyed stretching my horror muscles a bit, and writing something certifiably unhinged. I hope you enjoyed, and if not, well. Lighter stuff to follow soon, including a few more chaps of The Sorrel Mare
Looks interesting.

Is a fantastic game
It’s your most intensive writing yet. I loved it.
It was an absolutely horrifying and disconcerting read. It will stick with me for many weeks.
10/10, I would read it again.
It was amazing stuff! With a excellent ending.
