For a couple of years now, I've wanted to write a sequel to Gunsmoke, but I never got into the correct vibe. I had ideas for which games Sunset could jump into, and of course there were story elements there, but nothing really stuck or inspired me enough to get past the brainstorming part.
Desert Mirage lends herself for presumably easy crossovers: she can jump into a game and interact with players, or, if we want to be super creative, the game can be its own real 'world' or something.
Of course, going for the second option is possible, but not ideal… it beats the point of it being a video game. At that point, I might as well just send her to another world instead. Thankfully there are plenty animes out there with games she could potentially go into… .Hack for example, although a BOFURI crossover does sound appealing, now that I think about it. Or maybe even Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear?
However, something else presented itself as an option…
Once upon a time in an interdimensional bar, Desert Mirage saw a picture of The Bulletproof Heart… and PaulAsaran and I started joking around about them having a shootout.
Well.
That one didn't stay in the planning stages.
I present to you:
A story by PaulAsaran and myself, where our two gunslingers get together for an adventure!
If you needed some action, a lot of Bulletproof Heart (there's never enough!), and some Desert Mirage GGO shenanigans in a world ill-prepared to deal with the kind of mayhem these two can bring to it, don't miss out and check it out!

Gunsmoke's Mirage was one of the most relatable characters I've found in fiction, and I'm always craving more of Bulletproof Heart's western action.
I haven't been this hyped for a crossover since I saw the first trailer for Professor Layton Vs Phoenix Wright! (Every crossover since that game was okay. Some were too strange to generate hype but were still very good.)
Saw this post, considered myself intrigued.
Checked the cover page of the fic, saw it was just one chapter and still marked as incomplete? I am now definitely excited.

I have loved Gunsmoke, but never read Bulletproof Heart, and see that there are a few books in that series. How many of those should I read before reading this? I am hyped for more Desert Mirage!
5719771 So this story is pretty self-contained. Both characters are explored a little bit for people to understand their pasts if they haven't read either series, so if you're a fan of either, you should be able to read it.
Having said that, I REALLY recommend Bulletproof Heart. It's one of my all-time favorite stories in this site.
Oh, man, I'm so sorry I missed this as it was coming out! 've dropped it into my offline reader so I can get started on it...as soon as I find my danged Kindle.
