A buncha stories based off of random "What if?" questions. Eight years old and one thousand chapters long. Holy crap. BROKE THE 1000 CHAPTER LIMIT WITH A 1001ST CHAPTER!!!
very, very, very experimental fic continues its slow progress as the deadline for bicyclette's sci-fi contest draws near. these chapters are about on-par with what if in terms of length, but oh boy have they been an interesting experience to write.
yeah so anyway here is my webbed site lol. there's an MC Classic server for building whatever, and an MC Beta 1.7.3 server for playing survival. I might eventually also put up a modern vanilla server as well, though given how I'm hosting a bunch of servers already for friends and a couple of discord servers, idk if the little slab of a PC I'm using to host 'em all would be able to manage lol.
basically got one week left lol. got an experimental fic in the works that's a sort-of direct sequel picking off right where Splintershard ended. no prior reading is necessary.
MAN it's been a while since I've toyed with writing styles.
You know, when my phone gets finicky with the charger, I usually just bend a staple into a hook and pull the lint out of the port. I'm sure you've already tried that, but if you hadn't, try it.
Try taking the battery out of the s5, and see if it's bulging. Spin it on a table. If it spins well, it probably needs to be replaced. (It spins better if it's not totally flat, therefore bulging.)
5718363 All right. Figured it was worth checking, since I've had phone batteries die like that before.
You could probably just charge the battery outside of the phone when it dies, maybe getting a charger like this, though that'd be a pain.
Other things you could check is whether the port works to connect it to a computer, and potentially use a multimeter to see if the wiring to the port is good, maybe replace the port, though the latter is getting into the point where I'd probably fry the phone, since I've got almost zilch soldering experience... ( I have a soldering gun, just have only used it once or twice.)
(If you are comfortable soldering, bet you could use components from the phone for projects, like the screen.)
5718370 port doesn't work when connected to a computer using a known-good cable. I'm using the screen-destroyed s5 as a battery charger, but only for long enough to transfer data off onto an sd card. after that I'm just gonna retire the s5. it's seen plenty enough drops over its lifetime and I think the accidental drop it suffered last week must've been what finally did in the charging port. it may have cracked a solder joint inside, but I don't have any of the tools necessary to safely separate the screen from its midframe to do a repair/swap of the charging port with the s5 with a destroyed screen but working USB port.
the port itself does seem to still be marginal at best. the phone can detect when it's plugged into a charger but is unable to pull any meaningful load to actually do any charging, instead showing a warning indicator stating that the battery is unable to charge. when plugged into a computer, it does absolutely nothing, which at least to me suggests that the data lines in the USB port are likely severed entirely
5718371 I suppose if you can't safely separate the screen, you wouldn't be able to put the good screen on the one with the broken screen either, then, which would seem like the next logical move.

already tried that. the USB port is pristine lol

battery works perfectly fine in another s5 that's got a shattered screen. charges fine too.

I'll admit, I don't have a heat gun either...

my heat gun has two modes: incinerate and summer breeze. it either does next to nothing or it torches everything within its vicinity lol
