I know that I'm not breaking new ground by writing a blog post to complain about writer's block, or voicing frusturation about the quality of my own work,
I've been trying to work on a story for the past while, and it's, like, all the stars have aligned where I should be able to do something for it, I have the time and motivation to like go in and work on something, which feels good. Writing is, or was, a really cathartic experience. I don't think the stuff I've done in the past was really doing anything new for fan-fiction, or really fiction in general, but it was always fun to write. But this is different somehow. There's a document on drive that's a skeleton of the plot, the characters, the character arcs, etc, etc. It's all mostly planned out, but every time I actually try to write anything for it I come back and what I've written is so dry and so soulless and so creatively bland that I might as well be reading the instructions for hemorrhoid creme.
All the little techniques I try haven't really worked either. It's very frustrating if I'm being honest. But FIM has always been a great place to get peer support, so I was hoping to hear about what your Getting-Creative rituals look like, or if there's any advice you have that you think could help?
