Mattel announced Monday that it’s relaunching the franchise built around the famous purple dinosaur. The relaunch will include a preschool animated series set to debut in 2024 — Barney will no longer be portrayed by a human in a T. Rex costume — and a range of consumer products aimed at the under-6 set. The relaunch will also cover possible films and YouTube content; “apparel and accessories for adult fans, featuring classic Barney, are also in development,” Mattel notes.
Now I've watched this series when it first began years ago when I was a kid, and I was a big fan, but as I got older I grew out of the series especially as it started changing. More specifically the cast. So now Barney is finally getting an animated show for next year. I can only imagine how this will go. But at least in an animated show they aren't bound by limits to what you can do for a live children's show.

So, for Barney to have four fingers would—

Me: “Okay. Yeah. But still…”
Random Dude: “And remember the Tyrannosaurus rex from Disney’s Fantasia. It has three fingers! And it even has the incorrect posture!”
Me: “Oh my Disney…that’s true. But…”
Random Dude: “And—“
Me: (Giving up) “OH FORGET IT! Barney is a T-Rex. End of story.”
I was one of many children that got scared of that purple bastard, back in the ‘90’s when there was a live concert then.
I hope they bring back Baby Bop, BJ, And also Riff
Well… this is both a good and bad thing. It is bad because I get the feeling it will be a cringe load on a train 3 miles long. A good thing because at least I know now that Barney is now a show long forgotten. I may now watch it, but I hope it brings children happiness.

Now, originally I would scream in both shock and anger at this blasphem- I mean new change… however, I had to remind myself that Barney is an embodiment of imagination, so I say that this makes sense for his redesign, considering imagination is whatever we make, be it either good, bad, or strange.
This new Barney is the latter.
