I knew it was going to get juicy again for launch. · 10:41pm Feb 6th, 2023
So Hogwarts Legacy launches tomorrow for Deluxe Edition owners, and on Friday for everyone. As the review embargo lifted this morning, it has garnered an 86% average score, and a 96% recommendation on OpenCritic.
For their review, IGN has pinned this absolutely pathetic addendum. How about this, IGN; If Rowling wasn't involved with the game, then shut the ever-loving fuck up about Rowling and return some semblance of integrity to gaming journalism?
Meanwhile, in the weeks coming up to release, the ResetEra forums have banned all discussion of the game. Hm, I seem to recall the main villain of the Harry Potter books so terrified the community that they dared not speak his name. Coincidence, no?
Likely added very late in development, one of the NPCs in the game is a transgender bartender. Hey, that rhymed. Their model? Female. Their voice? Clearly male. Their name? Sirona Ryan. I have no idea if that was intentional but it's hysterical.
Lastly, and most hilariously, a Twitter user has put up the website HaveTheyStreamedThatWizardGame.com. Simply put a Twitch user's handle into the search bar, and it will tell you if they have streamed Hogwarts Legacy. This can also be done very easily on Twitch itself.
I knew it was going to be juicy.
In closing, just some reminders to the very vocal fraction of the trans community that has attacked other people for being excited about, not to mention, legally purchasing, Hogwarts Legacy:
1. The world does not owe you a goddamned fucking thing.
2. Your feelings and ideals are not more important than another person's hobbies, interests, feelings, and ideals.
3. The more you wall yourselves off in your echo chambers, the harder reality will smack you down. It's not a question of if, but when.
4. The world does not owe you a goddamned fucking thing.
As someone still playing on PS4…I only just found out that it doesn’t launch till April.
So I’ve still got a bit of a wait. Really looking forward though. Game looks solid!
A website to track who streams the game, that's some psychotic level stalker like shit right there.

To be fair, it's just what Twitch does dressed up differently. You can look up any streamer on Twitch and they'll give you a game history.
And then when Riddle took over the Ministry, he took advantage of the fact that his enemies, especially his three prime targets, weren't afraid to use his name to make it easier to cancel them. Or something along those lines.
I don't know. Maybe a better allegory was Fudge trying to suppress any talk of Riddle's revival tour?
So, in short, things have been a bit chaotic surrounding this game. Still, it seems to have gotten good reviews on Steam.

There are no Steam reviews yet. Users can't review the game until it's playable, and it's not for another 16 hours.

Disregard my last. I have no idea what I'm talking about.
the mere fact that they made a site to hunt down streamers who are playing the game is scary. i'm not a Harry Potter fan, but i'm gonna defend the fans from this insanity

i think the in-universe explanation is that there is a taboo on his name, so saying Voldemort would instantly home his army down on those who said it- its a magical homing beacon, and since the trio said it willy-nilly before... well, that would work.

Yeah, creepy, scary, but probably not illegal.
The site likely just pings Twitch's game history, which you can already look up for any streamer on Twitch.tv.
