Alph and Omega: Omega Beast Wrap Up · 7:34pm Feb 5th, 2023
And there it is. The final culmination of more than a year worth of planning. Actually, around years worth of planning if you count all the way since Incarnate. It's kind of odd to think that I have basically been writing non-stop since early 2020. I started lurking on site in early 2019 after a friend of mine pointed me this way for some good pony fanfiction I was interested in reading and WOW they were not wrong. I spent pretty much all of 2019 reading every story Sunset Shimmer related in the archive. Proportionately speaking there are many, MANY fantastic writers who have left their mark here even though some have moved on.
Anyhow, back to the wrap up. First and most obvious, why was this a two part story? Honestly, I did not think Omega Beast was going to be this long! My original outline picked up after Red Clover and had Void summon the beast and then... (STUFF HAPPENS) then I wrote the end. I had no middle! I had no idea at the start of Red Clover what else was going to happen! The meeting at Mount Metazoa, last minute add in. Cosmos, last minute add in, The god alicorns becoming fused with the other alicorns, last minute add in! Some of my other stories I had planed start to finish with just a few surprise add ins. This one really came to me day to day in snippets. One of the reasons I ran out of buffer was because I had days that I would just staaaaaaare at the computer and then at notes then back again waiting for what should happen next to get to that end I had planned.
Speaking of which, before I forget, I had that piece of art commissioned last year by Xjenn9 It came out pretty much exactly as I envisioned it. And it you go HERE and enlarge the image to the red gem in the sword guard you can see the image of Sunset and Twilight inside it and yes, it has been there the entire time.
Back to the story. I needed a number of things to happen. Ultimately I was trying to get to a satisfying ending that also set up the world we saw in the 2021 G5 New Generation movie. Their world is very different than where we last saw our heroes at the end of Season 9. I felt I needed to explain that in my own terms. When I started writing this Opaline and Misty had not been introduced yet so they are excluded in the set up. That's going to happen when you are dealing with evolving story. Regardless, I had plenty of my own threads I had to tie up, mostly centered around The Alicorn Gods and what part they played in the entire series and of course, Sunset fulfilling her destiny.
Sweet cheeks of Celestia, was I mean to that mare. Part of that I think is because I find her such a fascinating character. She has so little canon background which means she can be very mailable like a sculptor with clay. I wanted to give her the ending she did not get in Equestria Girls. Then I wanted to give her a story worthy of her setup. Then I wanted to give her what she deserved. An ending. Is she dead? Are her and Twilight gone for good? No, they are safe in a pocket dimension all their own. They are resting, hibernating if you will. Will they ever come out? Possibly. I left it ambiguous.
Which brings us to the future and what is next. Which is... Nothing. Not yet at least. I have a few scribbled notes of a story simply called Argyle, but nothing concreate beyond an idea of explaining who Sunny Starscout's mom is. However, like I said. I have been writing non-stop for 3 years. I am taking a break. What I will probably be doing is something I have been wanting to do for a while. Add art to the published stories. Who wants to see what Gauge looks like? Isabella? Aine even? Exactly. So, as I make new stuff I feel worthy of posting I will add them and comment here when new art goes up. Beyond that, I will be around, got plenty of other stories I read and follow and will gladly answer any questions via PM or in the comments sections of the stories themselves.
It has been a pleasure writing these and thank you all for following this journey. *flashes the finger guns and a Sunsetesque smirk*

As I stated before, I enjoyed this from start to finish.
I will miss looking forward to the weekly updates (at least I still have one other weekly story to look forward to...) but you deserve a well-earned break.
When you feel ready, I will be waiting eagerly to see what you come up with next.
I admit, I would've never thought to look closely at that ruby. Certainly an ingenious touch!

I confess honestly. I started reading your story with the story "Gods and Monsters", then I had to read everything else. I would have started commenting on everything right away, but firstly, it was too late, and secondly, I only recently registered then (you can laugh heartily). And only towards the end, I began to comment, as I realized, it turned out a lot, but I say everything I think about, without hiding anything (Damn, I realized with you what it's like to be a Chronicoms observer.).
Your universe (which I dubbed as expanse 628, it's more convenient for me) is more like a futuristic-Gothic style. An example in the form of the Raven Cylon and the gods. This style of the universe already exists in Warhammer 40000 (by the way, there is fan fiction with MLP and Sunset, with her father, too https://www.fimfiction.net/story/448745/warhammer-40k-sunset).
I didn't understand at first in the end, and then I realized what was wrong with them. You put them in a stasis chamber. Well, yes, they will get a rest, and then they will come out of there and they will see what Equestria has turned into.
May the Ancients help them.
Considering that you have been writing the history of your universe for 3 years in a row (as I have in the book, I have been doing it for 5 years), I noticed that as you left Sunset and Twilight, you were so distracted by yourself with your work that it turned out poetically in the "sleep mode" mode.
If you are the author of the following stories, then I will continue with you, to observe where it all goes next. "And this is my word" I want to see how you will continue to include the 5 generation, the fate of the Beyond, the life of the Raven Cylon, the final end of Sunset and Twilight.
I hope we can see each other again. May the Ancients keep us safe.
