But how do you feel about crediting ideas somewhere, in Author's Note or LD?
I am in favor of crediting inspirations, that is ALL OVER my back catalog.
I also know at least one person who is like 'eh, ideas are not for crediting, they belong to everyone.'
And it is true that some ideas are available to everyone. Like..."I want to write Rainbow x Gilda." That might not require a VAST amount of creativity until you actually write it.
But some people say ideas have no value because their ideas are the kind that have little value.
That person I mentioned? They sometimes went around doling out ideas but their ideas had SERIOUSLY NEGATIVE VALUE.
Like the kind of idea that would make a story worse
'I can see why you didn't save this idea for yourself, it is THAT XXXX bad of one.'
Anyway, my OPTIONAL background and filling out idea for [someone's] EqG Rainbow Dash x Gilda story that would/will have Fluttershy in it too...is...
Rainbow, Gilda, and Fluttershy come from familes who worked and lived (and probably traveled with) a circus.
Fluttershy learned even as a tiny little girl to be VERY good with circus animals. She was wonderful!
The circus performers did highwire and trapeze acts that were the next best thing to free flying...also who knows how many other scary things in those acts. Jumping though fiery hoops! Clowning in public!
But Fluttershy was terrified of so much of it...and she left, one way or another (remember, in EqG these characters were probably junior high to high school age at the oldest.) Rainbow Dash left with Fluttershy, for reasons still up to the author to write, but PARTLY to stay with her best friend and help take care of her.
Gilda misses Rainbow even now.
