I need to finish the chapters I've been working on and start editing the next one to release.

No, that - that is the wrong chapter. That isn't one of the new chapters, that is the oldest chapter. What are you doing?
Uses available energy making good edits to the older content, and is left unable to work on anything new

The edits I am getting done do make things a bit more readable and set the tone better, so at least I have that! I've been meaning to go through and edit earlier chapters to improve those aspects, but it's pretty exhausting work. I've got most of the first chapter gone through for it, and the thought of doing another 13 just feels like a LOT. But it is something I need to do at some point. I'm not happy with the quality of earlier chapters, and I know that'll have a big impact on new potential readers.
I get little jolts of inspiration here or there to work on things. Like I'll be talking about fanfic ideas or lore with someone, and then the wires in my brain connect in just the right way. It was easier when I had help on this project, but my friends all got busy with adulting. If anyone is ever interested in giving me a hoof as an editor or prereader, I would die of happiness XD Or if you ever wanna just talk about my fic or FoE in general, chat about lore or throw ideas back and forth, my inbox is always open!
