Feathered Hearts update - new C&C chapter on the way · 10:03pm Nov 21st, 2022
Finally into my turkey week vacation and hoping I don’t get called back into work in advance of a weekend software release I’ve got some code in. I’ve got a slew of cleaning and painting chores to do around the house, and for fun, I plan to visit a local pistol and rifle range at least a couple times along the way after spending way too much money at a gun and knife show this past weekend. But I’ve also got two writing tasks in front of me, both having to do with Continuation and Chronicles.
C&C M-rated chapter upgrades
First, there is one final M-rated chapter upgrade on the way—chapter 25: Battle of Bale - Part 1. I had originally planned to do R-rated upgrades to chapter 23 and 24 as well, but when I got into them, I wrote out some scenes and realized that they just didn’t work.
Not in the sense that they weren’t up to quality, but that they simply didn’t belong there at that point in the story—that there was no way to make them fit without some serious shoehorning and resorting to highly questionable story logic. In the end, I’m not willing to do that, though I’ll try to find uses for what I wrote later.
Clopfics vs story with clop
So what’s the difference between this story and my other M-rated works, you may ask? Simple. Works like Eros or Unleash the Magic are pure clopfics, but C&C is a different beast entirely. It’s a story with clop as opposed to a clopfic with story, if that makes sense. The closest parallel I can think of to my other works would probably be Five Star Service.
Though frequently cloppy, the sex took a back seat to story in 5SS when needed, especially in later chapters. And there were points that M-rated action wasn’t appropriate at all, as I had to very ruefully learn when my initial attempt at The Attorney chapters fell flat on their faces and badly turned off readers. I ended up having to rewrite those completely.
No further C&C R-rated or M-rated upgrades except chapter 25
As a result of that hard-learned experience, chapters 23 and 24 have received only minor updates that, though suggestive in places, do not rise to R-rated, and so I simply updated the existing chapters directly.
Chapter 25: Battle of Bale - Part 1 is another matter, however. I can very easily fit a quick M-rated scene into the story, and indeed, there was a framework of such a scene already there. It will launch on Tuesday night, so be looking for it. And as always, the original T-rated version will remain with links to it from previous chapters, so you can choose your own reading adventure.
Future M-rated chapters will include dual T-rated ones
Also, I have indeed decided to do paired M-rated/T-rated chapters from here on out for the sake of the existing audience who doesn’t go for clop. It’s more work, but it’s ultimately for those readers who want gun porn as opposed to the adult kind.
So you will be getting a new T-rated version of chapter 29 later this week as well, and when more M-rated chapters come along, they’ll get the same dual-chapter treatment with separate links to the M-rated and T-rated version at the end of the preceding chapter.
New C&C chapter on the way
And finally, as my clop batteries seem a bit low at the moment after all these M-rated upgrades, I’ve elected to do a new C&C chapter before switching back over to Eros. Chapter 30 is already underway and will begin in the aftermath of the ending scene as Gilda and her unlikely partner return to base.
I don’t intend to linger on that long, however, as there’s simply no time for it. I don’t think I’m spoiling much to say that after having been given a very bloody nose, there’s a brief lull as the Cloven are regrouping, making plans and massing for a fresh assault. But that assault will occur in part 30, and as always, expect some surprises from a very adaptable enemy.
This chapter may or may not make it to the end of the battle. If it does, it’ll be a long chapter, but for a climactic scene, that’s fine unless it gets very excessive. I’ll just have to see how it develops as I write it. As for when it’ll be ready, we’ll aim for before the end of the November. And I’ll try to provide at least one teaser before we get there.
Magnificent effort for the readers convince!
