Have you ever heard or read a comment that completely change a story just because it is an interesting take and you never thought of it, I did and that is why the third chapter, Objective Achieved, Redeployment Imminent, went into development hell. Reasons like life, the first draft dialogue was stale and didn't make too much sense. It was one comment by AgentKorpsman that threw the biggest wrench in my plans. It was a good wrench but a wrench all the same. They said, "Will there perhaps be at least some ponies who side with Leo(Theo)?" I thought about this for a little bit, and it got me thinking on how when people show war, they make it seem as if the entirety of the country was united against a common threat.
This is done so often that I almost dismissed it without thinking. Then I thought of the war in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. How the people wanted/didn't object to the war in the first place but slowly moved an anti-war stance as the war dragged on. This got me thinking of internal problems that are going to arise if the war drags on.
Needless to say, the entire story's ending has changed, and I think it is for the better. Thank you AgentKorpsman for making my life more difficult for a better story. I going to head to bed after writing a new outline.
