There's a bunch of fics I've got half-written and never published anywhere (yet - they're coming!). They cause problems.
"What sort of problems?" I hear you ask, with that oh-so-seductive voice you all have in my head. Problems like introducing bits of headcanon that seeps into my other fics like insidious little metamemic worms, that end up infesting the other versions of worlds I've written.
A simple one. In Guiding Light, Twilight uses a spell she learned from Luna that allows her to temporarily calm the mind of another pony so they can come to terms with a big, stressful idea. It's not explained there, but I know how it works (roughly) and what it does. It would have felt like a nice callback, if only I'd published the other fic first instead of leaving it languishing, half-finished... now it just looks a little weird. Just a little.
I've also got my own version of Star Sparkle sneaking into everything I write now, with her characterisation having been much expanded in a side-story I've written for Xenophilia's side stories doodad [NSFW], but not yet published, with a little mutual inspiration from Amit, who took her and made her hilarious [very, very NSFW, just fyi].
And other headcanons invade, too! I've already stuck winingverse refs in half my fics, there's at least some Xeno "herd" stuff in one (interesting to see that popping up in other places too, incidentally) and any number of other crazy little ideas that just seem to have migrated to my work without my even realising.
I'm starting to wonder if I've actually got any creativity left, or if I'm just recycling everything...
No reason to post this. It's just a way to pass a few minutes in a dull evening.

No, seriously, her overbearing, quasi-crazy personality as established by Xenophilia is perfect. I can't wait for more of her.

610832 Early fanon version of Twilight's mother I liked the name better than Twilight Velvet (personal preference) so she kind of stuck around in my head. Then I wrote this, and then this, and she sort of broke out...
If it makes you feel better, I agree with those two above me, Star Sparkle's characterization is hilarious.
