One of the things I'm always telling writers, and something I always hear directed at me, is that you should read. Read read read. There are plenty of smart people out there with interesting ideas that you can learn from, but one cannot convey a grand idea by simply telling it to you. Words are shit for translation of concepts. You must be shown and idea to truly grasp its depth.
