I am over 50, married, and have a pre-teen daughter. I love Disney, MLP, the Beatles "Yellow Submarine", and Harry Potter. I think Alan Rickman was the sexiest actor ever!

Green Eyes 1977 · 10:03pm Sep 18th, 2021

I had been thinking about a television movie my parents had watched back in 1977 called "Green Eyes". It was about an African-American Vietnam Veteran who comes home but can't settle down. He decides to return to South Vietnam and look for the woman and baby he left behind. His only clue about the baby is that it looked like him and had green eyes.

3rd Bucket List Item · 9:18pm Sep 18th, 2021

Finally, we went to Hannibal MO, the home of Samuel Clements aka Mark Twain. It was fun. The Mark Twain Museum actually several buildings spread out over a couple of streets. It traced the life of the author and introduced the people who inspired the characters in his novels. I took a picture of my husband white washing a fence and one of my daughter sitting in an 1800's classroom. They even had a couple dressed like Tom and Becky walking around the place though I never did get a picture

Bucket List Part II · 2:46am Jul 20th, 2021

The next day we went to Worlds of Wonder Aquarium and Museum which is supported (in part) by Bass Pro Shop. Tickets were expensive but worth it! The underwater exhibits were fantastic and it gave an interesting history of sport fishing. It even had a section dedicated to former presidents who enjoyed fishing. (Jimmy Carter being chief among them). It was truly amazing.

Covid is Real · 1:42am Feb 19th, 2021

I got a text this afternoon from a former co-worker. Our former boss, owner of the daycare we worked for, had died.

Miss 'Leesha had been in childcare for years. She had kept children at her home before eventually opening an actual daycare. She was a loving but strict person. She was always getting after me for holding the children too much. "You can't spend the whole time holding one child. You gotta watch out for all of them."

Not so Sweet and Smoky · 12:21am Feb 10th, 2021

I was at work having a rather slow day when my husband called. That is a little unusual for him. Usually he just texts me. Unless it is something important. Turned out it was important.

The house was on fire.

Pinkie and the Anaconda · 4:25am Nov 22nd, 2020

Lately I have been reading some stories by a Brony named Bluecatcinema. His has some very interesting OCs, my favorites being the Napoleon brothers who are members of the Bitalian Mafia. One of brothers, known as Salt Napoleon, was based on the actor Jason Stratham.

I am an Idiot · 12:31am Sep 27th, 2020

Today I did a very stupid thing.

Pinkie and I went to her favorite restaurant this morning to get breakfast. I got a biscuit, potatoes,....and a coffee. (Oh, you can see where this is going, can't you?) We parked in one of the spaces so I could put some sugar and creamer in the coffee. For some stupid reason, I thought it was okay to balance a full cup of hot coffee on my knee. Well, it tipped over and hot coffee poured all down my lap!

Ask a Maretician · 4:26pm Jul 26th, 2020

Probably wondering about the title. Well, not too long ago I was looking up stuff on the Internet and ran across a YouTube video series called "Ask a Mortician" by Caitlyn Doughty (imagine a cross between Twilight Sparkle and Wednesday Adams). The episode was about the Essex, a whaling ship from Nantucket that served as the inspiration for "Moby Dick". Unlike the book where only Ishmael survives, about seven crew members lived to tell the tale. She described in morbid but humorous detail

Holding Out · 10:39pm Mar 30th, 2020

Covid19, the viral bitch, has made it to Florence County with at least one confirmed case in our zip code. No one I know is sick at this time, thankfully. I went to church this past Sunday. Counting the priest, there were only about 10 people present. Kinda weird considering this is the Lenten season.
