So, I saw a picture and was inspired to write a short story about it. It actually took me longer to figure out what it was that I was going to write, than it did to write it.

Alrighty, so I managed to get a fair amount of writing done during my trip to Cuba. In fact it the most amount of writing I've ever done in a single week-long period. It's something like an epilogue to Scion of Chaos. I'm using it as a nice little set up to the sequel.

Gone to Cuba. I have to work tomorrow pretty early and then catch a flight right afterward. And then I'll be in Cuba for a full week! I'll be spending the time internet-free, though I imagine I'll have plenty of time to finish off my next bit of fiction and upload it on Sunday when I get back. So writing this story turned out to be a huge challenge for me.

Maybe I just can't write Dark as well as I thought I could. But the story kept changing as I was writing it. And before I knew it, it slipped away from a 'horror' story and turned into something of a meaningful-soul-searching sort of story.

Hmm. As for how I feel about it, a little disappointed, but I gave it an honest shot.

Wow, writing a dark/horror story is tougher than I thought, and it's been an eye-opening experience. I've had to rewrite and rewrite, but I think I finally have most of it figured out. Unfortunately that means I can't get the update done tonight like I wanted to. But it's also good, because this is a learning experience and struggling through such challenges is important as a writer and will help improve my future writing. (Now my eyes hurt from eye-strain.)
