Chapter 11
True Colors
At first, everything with Barney was wonderful, but after a couple of months, things started to change.
It started off with him accusing her of cheating on him with Storm. Apple Bloom was outraged and they had a big argument about it.
Then, Barney started trying to tell her what to do. First, he told her that he didn't want her to be friends with Storm anymore. She told him forget it. Storm was her friend and he wasn't going to tell her who she could be friends with.
Barney started kicking the wall whenever he was angry at her. Apple Bloom wondered if he would ever kick her.
Meanwhile, Storm ended up leaving to Cloudsdale to move back in with his parents to help out his family. He couldn't take Pumpkin with him, so he asked Apple Bloom if she'd take her. Which, after permission from her own family, she happily did.
Barney only got worse. One time in an argument he informed her that she wasn't going to therapy the next day. Apple Bloom hit the roof.
"You are not going to get in the way of my getting better!" She told him angrily.
The last straw came on his birthday. He took her to spend the night with a couple of friends of his and she gave him a birthday present. The next morning however, Apple Bloom wasn't feeling well. She asked Barney to take her home.
"You just had to do this on my birthday didn't you?" Barney snapped at her.
"Oh yes Barney, I deliberately got sick just to ruin your birthday," Apple Bloom snapped right back.
Barney refused to take her home, so Apple Bloom left, asked directions from the nearest pony, and started for home.
"Hey come back here!" Barney called after her.
"Screw you!" She yelled back.
After she got home, Apple Bloom took some medicine and went straight to bed.
When Apple Bloom woke up, she did some serious thinking. Was Barney going to change? Probably not. He was showing his true colors now. Did she want to put up with it? Heck no. She knew what she had to do.
The next day, when Barney came over to see her, she informed him that she was breaking up with him and returned to him the few gifts he'd given her during the course of her relationship. Then she locked him out.
Barney angrily kicked the door but she ignored him.
When Storm heard about what happened, he told Barney he deserved it for how he'd treated her. Soon, Barney came to beg Apple Bloom for forgiveness.
"I'm sorry Barney, but I don't want to be your filly friend anymore," she told him flatly. Barney then sadly left.
Apple Bloom was sad to find out that everypony had been right. Barney was no good. She'd learned a lesson that who ponies appeared to be at first wasn't always who they actually were.
Sometimes, it took awhile for their true colors to come out.
not my kind of story yet i found it well made even though i do not understand the 300 words chapter that usually discourages people from reading.
still thumb up keep writing
Out with the trash, Bloom!
Wonder if Barney will pop up again?
I can associate with how suddenly and devastatingly mental illness can strike, after my grandmother was hospitalised with a severe case of depression when I was a teenager. She's still alive, but she's nothing like how I knew her when I was a kid. Recently my sister was diagnosed with depression, and my uncle was diagnosed three years ago
Again, you mange to handle a touchy subject well.
However, we still ha our little flaw of the hyper short chapters. You should work on expanding these, since your writing is capable and the poems you've written are actually very very good (apparently you did write them yourself and didn't go the lazy route and just copy paste some other poem. Respect)
So, I will fave and like this story, and I hope all ends well for Apple Bloom.
2525221 I'll try to make the chapters longer, I know I'm bad about that. Yes I did actually write all these poems myself.
Thanks for the nice compliment and the fave and like.

I hope you won't mind if I use one of these poems for a project... will you?
2526026 As long as you give me credit for the poem, that's fine.
Good for you Applebloom! Tossing that no good low darn colt to the side where he belongs. Hopefully he is gone for good.
BITCH WHAT DID I TELL YOU?! Now you just got socked in the face by them twins, Irony and Karma. MM-mm, AB, MM-mm.
