11046838 SA in this story is absolutely, 100% he bad guy. lol... He's a caricature of of all the random isekai light novel characters. It really bugs me when they go and do something terrible like "slightly adjust" their party members stats or something dumb, and the character has a personality shift and is just hunky dory with the situation. Even the isekai's I like are guilty of shit like this.
Right now I'm watching "The world's greatest assassin gets re-incarnated in another world as a noble assassin" (I think that's the title, it's too long to remember the actual title...) and the most recent episode had something weird that rubbed me the wrong way. The MC impersonates a dude buying a girl from an orphanage where they pimp out the girls. The girl is 12. The MC doesn't sleep with her, but he plays the role of "potential client" to the girl. The girl goes from crying and lamenting her fate to "This guy will save me!" in the blink of an eye.
She has no reason whatsoever to think he's not going to do to her what she's watched happen to her 8 or so orphan family members over the last 2 years (actual timeline of how long she's in the orphanage that pimps out the kids.) But since he's the MC, she's just like "I love this guy and want to go with him." She's willing to leave the girls that she's grown up with and protected forever, and just accepts that this guy is probably going to sleep with her, when just seconds ago she was in the throes of a mental breakdown at the prospect of finally getting sold.
They play it up like he's all shiny, but like, they are standing int he middle of a muddy courtyard literally selling sex slaves. It's not exactly the same thing, but the concept is the same. The narrative protects the isekai protagonist. They didn't have to do that in this episode, and I think it would have been better if they didn't. She could have struggled and fought against the MC, just like she did wth the "owner" in another part of the episode. Then when he inevitably swoops n to save her and explains that he's under cover, it could have been a moment for her to decide her fate and choose to go with him because he offers her the chance to grow stronger.
Instead, she saw the MC and was like "Yeah, forget all the last two years and fuck those bitches that are my friends/family. Imma peace out with homeboy there." It was a super weird narrative choice that was an accidental character assassination on her. I'm sure the MC will decide to save her friends, but there was no way in hell she could have known that was going to happen. She was gung-ho to abandon the rest of the girls and GTFO with this random client. And now she looks like a ditzy, weak willed character when literally the rest of the episode is the backstory on why she's so strong, and how she's protected and taken care of them for so long. I haven't read the light novel for this one, but I did watch the show. And this is one that I like! The ones I don't like are just crazy sauce in the efforts they use to protect the isekai protagonist at the expense of the story/other characters.
Any way, short of it is that yes. Shining Armor is a super dick, and the rest of the world thinks that's fine and doesn't see anything wrong with it. Now Celestia does as well. You're not in the world, so you're free to have your own opinion, but if you thought anything else was going to happen then you were in the wrong story. lol.
Thanks for the comment! Sorry for the rant, I'm still pissed about that episode. lol...
I … have no idea what’s happening here.
Sad she finally accepted him willingly and he immediately changes who she is
