...Man, that stuff works quickly.
Well that's an interesting tidbit of information. I wonder what exactly the ponies did to improve on their weapons.

Especially if you don’t weigh much like Tara and aren’t used to magic like her or Nantz.
You will find out in due course.
Damn fine teasing. Most excellent ♡
Enchancing the charge of a taser or stun gun is very dangerous. I would get it if it changes the voltage to fit the size of the opponent, but if it's just a general more powerful hit than it was designed to then it would go from stun gun to heart stopper, defeating the purpose of less lethal and turning into a murder weapon.
The description just sounds like she turned a taser into a taser, but magical.
Also ponies enhancing human weapons? Excuse me, not to be rude but why would they ever do that? In this age they would be against anything killing related. They maybe rebuilding their branches but I don't think they're going to help the humans make their weapons make people more deader, that contradicts the whole 'you're not allowed to tell other species about your big scary guns rule.'
One point, I hope this gets addressed in the main story, but I haven't seen that the human government (especially the marines) not wanting to divulge what and how their weapons work, because you would rather they do not make their own or learn how to counter it so that you can stay top dog. But I've only seen that it was a rule that the ponies required them to do, even though imo I would be doing that anyway considering the circumstances.
Edit: I know this a clopfic, so it's a bit out of place for a serious comment, but you do have this being tied to the main story.

Very well. I’ve thought about it, and I find that to be a very valid point. So I’ve adjusted the section as follows:
She patted her pocket and then pulled out a Taser. “I had this enchanted by the ponies. It's enhanced with an electrical stun spell that only uses exactly as much charge as needed. I’ve no idea how that works, but they promise it’ll put down anything from a flying boar to a charging Minotaur instantly and safely. And believe me, I’d carry something more powerful than this if I was allowed.”
You presumed they enhanced lethality. But that’s not what the Marines asked for. There’s a clue as to what they did ask for in Chapter 9 in the main story, but I promise you’ll learn what it was in due course. Nevertheless, I’ve modified this as well:
“Good thinking. And yeah, we got the ponies to magically boost some of our weapons and gear, too. Not their lethality, but to make them—” Nantz blinked and caught himself. "Never mind. Look, I don’t blame you for being cautious, but I don’t think you have to worry. From what I can tell, Fortrakt's a good kid—er, cub. He’s very earnest and really does seem to want to do right by others.
Sorry to sound like a broken record, but you’ll get an explanation as to where the rule came from and the full rationale behind it in due course of the main story. You’ll understand that answering that question is not exactly a priority here in the side story.
I don’t mind at all. This is meant to be canon, so it needs to fit the main story fully. Your points are well-thought, so if you have other concerns as you read, feel free to bring them to my attention. Thanks for commenting, and hope you enjoy the story regardless.

Thanks! I tend to be a terrible tease in my writing, constantly leaving off on cliffhangers or otherwise engaging in what I call literary foreplay while making you wait for the main event. No apologies, because I know how well it works.
Celestia: "What did you do to their weapons, Pinkie Pie? "
Pinkie Pie: "Sorry, but I can't tell you, Princess Celestia. It's a state secret, you know. But Equestria IS going to need to ration confetti for more than a few years. "
Celestia: "Oh... That IS what I was afraid of... "

Thus was the Cloven threat ended and all Tellus saved before it began when all Marine weapons were converted into confetti-dispensing mini-cannons!
I'm surprised that the Lieutenant gave that advice. Despite how it sometimes behaves, the United States doesn't actually have universal jurisdiction in any legal sense. Especially not through the portal where its ability to throw its weight around is far less than it would be on Earth.
If Dana wanted to press charges for assault, she would only be able to do so in the Griffin Kingdom. If she demanded that American police arrest Tara... Local police would point out that they don't have jurisdiction on the far side of the portal. The Michael Flynn case reminded us that the FBI are perfectly happy to make stuff up to hold someone, but they don't have legal jurisdiction outside of the US either, and I'm sceptical that a single senator would have the pull to persuade them to do that. Not for an apolitical assault charge, anyway.
Then there's the claim that she wouldn't be able to get a job. This is the first time someone from Earth has been to the Griffon Kingdom, and travel to the far side of the portal isn't all that common. Even if the entire US political establishment was poisoned against her, she could get a job from just about any government in the world. And that's assuming that the other half of the US wouldn't hire her, which seems unlikely.
Neither of those would be a problem if it was just a character having an opinion, but I don't think it really makes sense for these characters.

Like any nation, the US has jurisdiction over its own soil. And a foreign embassy is considered its own soil, whether it’s on the other side of the portal or not.
This happened in the Inn, which is a makeshift US embassy where an Ambassador resides. She’s a civilian and she assaulted what amounts to an American diplomat there, so yes, US authorities could indeed come after her. And Dana’s influential father would insist that they do so.
You don’t need the entire political establishment against her, only the half that controls all the major media, government agencies and universities to smear you and blacklist you. She’s a student at the latter, working on her Masters degree; she knows full well you can get canceled and booted very easily if you transgress against the rules of wokeness or otherwise threaten their funding/stir up their students. Dana’s father can do the former while Dana herself can accomplish the latter, leaving her without a degree and otherwise unhireable.
Also remember that she’s studying to be a geologist. Many geologist jobs belong to governments or universities, which being cancelled would instantly preclude, and the few that don’t belong to things like oil or mining companies who the media would look for any excuse to shut down. What company would take the risk of hiring her and getting very bad publicity/cancelled government contracts? Could she get a job with a foreign government? Maybe, if they don’t mind earning ire from the US political establishment and media, but that’s in effect what she’s already decided to do by staying in the kingdom, whose culture she likes more. She’ll offer her expertise to them, and as more human interests get set up, they’ll probably need it.
I disagree. I think this makes perfect sense from Dana’s and Nantz’s point of view. She knows what she faces if she goes back home, so if wants to remain free and uncancelled while still retaining a chance to pursue her passion, staying in the Kingdom is her best option at this point.
Tara might find a place in the history books as the very first Asylum taking human in alien territory.
Famous or infamous, both legit ways to end in the historical books to be remembered.
The only way besides being immortal to be remembered is getting into the history books.
