Spiked zap apple cider is a helluva drug.
First Spear trying to get checkmarks for all firsts for griffies
Also somebody has to go through the laptop video to check for 'evidence', so that's going to make for a great chapter too.

You said it, and it’ll have lingering effects going forward in the form of enhanced stature and virility as well as an ability basically add that fertility potion to the pheromones they give off, as they got so much of it their bodies had to incorporate it in order to accept it. But even if it wasn’t spiked, Applejack herself would tell anycreature buying it to “Don’t never drink more than two mugs of it at a time, or Ah ain’t gonna be responsible for what happens!”

Can you blame him? He’s got a few more of them to collect yet, too...
Well, I’ll just say for now that will eventually happen, but will be delayed for a very good reason that will become apparent in the main story shortly. As currently planned, they’ll rediscover the video evidence at the very end of the story, ala The Hangover.

What can he say, he's the first spear. His spear MUST be first

Good point! And by the way, if you haven’t already, you should reread the last two release chapters because I heavily expanded both at the last minute, adding about 2000 words to each. Hope you liked the additions over what you saw in your preread!
10850904
no new fields to plow for Fortrakt? like a boobjob? i mean that's still unchecked right?
10850951
Absolutely there are, and he’ll be getting one all right... but not before something else happens first!
Forgot to comment about this:
typo there, should be "he"
10851374
There’s always at least one typo I miss. Thanks for pointing it out. Fixed.
Damn... Cruelty incarnate! Until we get the next chapter were the fun finally starts.

Sorry, for some reason the site wouldn't let me type a reply. Thank you for addressing my concerns, glad to see that I was able to help you. In regards to combat in the main story, I can assist you with the U.S. Marine's current armament and vehicles, I had concerns about air cover and reinforcements during the story and would like to discuss when we reach that point or near it in the main story.
10855222
Sorry, but I churned out those ten chapters in the space of a month, and now I need to work on other stuff for a bit. But thanks again for all the comments! I really do appreciate it.
Hopefully many others are as well!

You’re welcome. I always try to listen to and respond to reader feedback. And I’m not too proud to make changes, even large-scale ones, if I think a reader has point.
That would be very welcome, thanks. In fact, if you like, I could use another prereader with for both Feathered Hearts stories. Interested...?

Weight reducing and perhaps magical tracking to help find 'missplaced equicment'.

I would love to, I want to help make this series excell at it's full potential

No, anti air missiles would not be op, it will actually be ineffective for this type of combat. You're not dealing with a few aircraft coming in for a strike, you're dealing with a swarm controlled by one mind with no regards of losses or morale.
Today for most of the Western world we rely on AA missle defense systems that can only deal with a few targets at a time and mostly work with deterrence. The quickest access that the US marines will have is 'Manpads' Stinger missile launchers and the Avenger humvee AA vehicle. The stinger is heavy weight and can only take one target down at a time. The Avenger can only use 8 missiles than has to time to reload, that means pulling out to safety and having at least two crew members shove each missile into the tube. The only upside is that it has a M2 Browning with it, but that's it.
They both share one fatal flaw, They use heat tracking. They both rely on the heat exhaust from the engine coming out of an aircraft. It's not meant for flying animals or monsters, completely useless.
The best option is heavy guns, Self Propelled Anti Air Gun, or SPAAG for short, is the best option if you want to bring anti air into this theater. Unfortunately the US has retired everything but the Phalanx CIWS, which is only a base and ship defense emplacement, which needs power and a clear sky, along with being programmed to recognise the new enemy.
Which brings me to my next point, Sentries. They're awesome in Sci-fi, but completely inapplicable here. Even if by some miracle it's get programmed and tested in time to help the griffions and not shoot down friendlies, along with telling the corrupted apart, it will be a policitial nightmare to bring it in a UN mission, considering that automated lethal weapons platforms that fire on living targets is illegal by UN international law. Only one country has knowingly violated this today and that's Turkey.
I will go more into this when i have the time.

Flak turrets make way more sence than missels...
10861978
Yes but the US doesn't use those anymore, it'll have to be from another UN member. Germany or the UK more likely. Germany has the Flakpanzer Gepard and Britain has the Marksman anti-aircraft system. SPAAG use alot of ammo, but those storage gems really seems to solve that issue. However this is a new theater and likely the UN would only get involved just enough to save it's personal.
Likely the Marines will rely heavily on their LAV-25 for bigger targets, Humvees and MTVR. I wouldn't be surprised if the captain requested the use or creation of gun trucks to help provide cover. As for tanks, the US is fazing them out, but if that wasn't the case here. Well the tank can only be on the very front or somewhere where friendly are not standing in front of them. When a tank fire out from the cannon, think of a cone of fire coming out of it from the barrel to a good 100 feet away. In that cone, anyone inside of it will be killed by the blast wave or severely injured. With gryphons that aren't trained in working with tanks, let's hope they learn to stay away from it. The tank is powerful, but not quick. Considering the theater here, it will have to be protected by infantry, covering it's flanks. Especially when the corrupted figure that weakness out. I'm still debating whether or not to bring it in. It'll need lots of fuel and protection, not sure about the land and the crew will be stranded if they got in a ditch. 50 cal is more than enough to take down the toughest enemies they have so I'm not too sure about doing overkill. No point in using APFSDS, nothing is that strong....yet. Fragmentation and High-Explosive is the main effective rounds, there is a round that was made after the Iraq War that turned the cannon into a giant shotgun, so that would be the best, especially for enemies hiding in the trees.
10861570
Don't forget the land-based C-RAM!
10862070
And don't forget the good old GraMaWa, with airburst rounds.
Very nasty stuff against enemies behind obstacles.
I'm not sure why Giraldi wouldn't show his cubs. It's griffon culture, after all. It would make sense that they would consider the combat scenes to be as good for the cubs to learn about as much as for adult birbs. As for sex between humans, it would likely be as much --meh-- for the young's interest as they might shrug off any interest about sex going on among ponies or yaks. Being a more open and honest society, the young wouldn't be unaware that such goes on, it's just that the sex simply wouldn't be as interesting to them. For that matter, much the same as this last could probably be said about any other Tellus society, too.
Besides, human hang-ups over sex is actually a rather American-centric, and moreover a Puritanical problem. European and Asians generally don't have issues with sex scenes on their television broadcasts where children can see them, while Europeans mostly consider gratuitous violence to be obscene and inappropriate for children. Japanese people often let their kids watch both sex AND violence, for more than American parents allow--although the Japanese do balk at showing pubic hair for some inexplicable reason.

I think you make good points here. As I think about it, another point in favor of him showing this to his cubs would be that this a very Romanesque society, and you know full well the Romans weren’t exactly shy about sex.
On the other hand, a father like Giraldi might not want his children get the wrong idea about sex or human females from a human movie, when griffons are culturally disposed to fight before mating, which doesn’t happen here. I’ve also only hinted at it, but though the griffons don’t have an age of consent per se, since mating requires fighting, they don’t think can properly engage in the former until you’re mature enough to do the latter. That’s why Nantz being with Merlina is going to be a big deal later.
I’ll certainly grant that we’re generally more prudish about things than Europeans or Asians. Nevertheless, I think Giraldi would balk here at showing his cubs something that would go against griffon mating culture. Nevertheless, I’ll consider your points and make a decision in the next few days about whether I should modify this.

I did mention it, same problem exist; no power source, designed to counter enemy aircraft and incoming artillery/missiles, not flying monsters with no radar signatures. No time to reprogram and needs an maintenance team and ammo supply line, which they're cut off from.
I think I hear a Ibex or three curse internally
I just read the comments and I remember how of all things we start talk about weapon system in clop chapters... Absolutely hilarious 👍

They’re elsewhere in the Inn, waiting for shit to hit the fan so they can take advantage of the turmoil they expect to cause to steal stuff and make their escape. They’re going to be waiting a while.
That’s part of what makes this so enjoyable to write for me—I’ve never had a clopfic that involved debates about tactics and battles in the comments section!
