The world is unified. Peace has returned after a hard-won war threatened to turn the many races upon one another. Now unified with America at the core, things seem to be improving. Still, ask any human, it's just a matter of time until issues appear.

Yes indeed, no tension spring in the form of a formal diplomat nor ambassador between those two countries. When disagreements arise, they happen at the top.
Children are innocent. Swift Swim deserves a childhood free of fear. I could imagine her bring a target of those who believe that sentient non-humans are animals...
And so the plot thickens.
I thought the Seaquestrians were America's closest political ally? Humanity's intro with Equestria was...Tumultuous, to say the least. And humans aren't known for letting go of grudges so quickly. Additionally the EFC cost more America quite a bit in the war from the prequel.
All the more for Grogar to manipulate.

I thought the same thing about Americas closest ally as well, in fact the Lutrai are a closer ally to America than Equestria was... are they not? Do you think it is meant as largest trade partner? Or perhaps closest ally that normal Americans can travel to and fro? I am confused as well.
In any event I am happy to see more of this story!

They are the closest as in the easiest for Americans to understand and thus interact with.
The seaquestrians were first and tried but... remain an underwater nation! That's not normal and throws off a lot of expectations in such basic levels that the ponies seem almost normal.
The Lutrai are wonderful beasts! But so behind the curve that they're more like a beloved little brother rather than a peer. The Equestrians are right in the middle spot.
Animal (noun): Any non-sapient organism that is capable of locomotion.
Note the "non-sapient" part! That means anything that meets the Equestrian definition of "creature" cannot be an animal!

Are you attempting to win an angry religious fight with logic?

Raw emotion wouldn't do anything, and the guy arguing is supposed to have the same worldview as I do... which means that I'm more likely to get through to him (less likely to be viewed as an attacker), but also that not going against his uninformed and hateful stance would lead others to incorrectly assume his view is sponsored by the Bible... negative evangelism in other words.
This is an often understated part of history. Many are the times where a good ruled who advanced his nation passed down the power to his son, who would go and completely wreck everything.
Then again, both history and current events have shown that democracy is far from immune to this. The most famous tyrant in our history was democratically elected, after all.
I apologize if it was stated in the earlier story, but did they ever establish whether or not the Minotaurs were planning a war before the USA appeared? I always had the feeling that the minotaurs were saber rattling at the beginning of the previous story, rather then forming a “protective pact”. It felt like they were just using the USA as an excuse to mobilize and expand their influence, under the guise of “liberating” other countries/races from them.
Or am I misreading Commander Forces motives? Was he just driven to madness by fear? Be it invasion or his nation growing irrelevant with the introduction of a far more advanced and industrialized race?

As with most parts of life, a little A, a little B. The odds of them techno-innovating in the timeline given are slender, but far less so if they were preparing already.
