Manehattan Incident
April 17th, 1012
CLASSIFIED
PUBLIC TRUST
What is transcribed in this document before you is the official Moose code transcripts between the Steamer Titanic and Equestrian Naval Forces on the days of April 16th and 17th.
April 16th
Titanic: "Cape Race, this is MGY, please respond. Again, Cape Race, this is MGY, please respond."
[14:06]
"Any ships in area, MGY in heavy storms, requesting contact."
[14:07]
"To any ships in area, please respond. This is Titanic."
The messages above are repeated throughout the rest of the day and into the early morning
April 17th
ENS Baltimare: "Steamer Titanic, turn back immediately and be prepared to be boarded for an inspection."
[09:23]
Titanic: "State your identification."
[09:24]
ENS Baltimare: "Repeat, Titanic, turn back immediately and be prepared to be boarded for an inspection."
[09:26]
Titanic: "Repeat, State your identification."
[09:27]
ENS Baltimare: "Turn back from course immediately."
[09:30]
Titanic: "Who is this? Hunston, get off the wire."
[09:31]
ENS Baltimare: "Who is Hunston?"
[09:32]
Titanic: "Hunston, get off line before we log this."
[09:33]
ENS Baltimare: "Repeat, who is Hunston?"
[09:34]
Titanic does not reply for another 10 minutes
Titanic: "Cape Race, do you bloody copy."
[09:45]
Titanic: "Repeat, Cape Race, do you copy."
[09:50]
ENS Baltimare: "Titanic, turn around, stop ship, prepare to be boarded."
[09:51]
Titanic: "Is this a bloody joke. Who is this."
[09:53]
ENS Baltimare: "Titanic, comply with orders or face consequences."
[09:54]
Titanic cuts contact for nearly an hour and a half while steaming for Manehattan.
Titanic: "To any ships, engines are running overtime, slowing down, request assistance."
[11:28]
ENS Stallion: "Report recieved Titanic. How long before stop."
[11:30]
Titanic: "Reckon 10 minutes before stop. Requesting identification."
[11:31]
ENS Stallion: "None of your concern. We are here to help."
[11:32]
Titanic: "Changing course southeast."
[11:33]
At this point, it appears that the Stallion and Iron Grail were fooled into turning south east under pretense that Titanic was. It is not until ENS Baltimare hears of this when they get back on course to intercept Tianic.
ENS Baltimare: "Steamer Titanic, turn around now or face severe consequences."
[11:51]
Titanic: Message Garbled by incoming messages from Stallion and Iron Grail
[11:52]
ENS Baltimare: "Repeat Titanic."
[11:54]
Titanic: "Sod off you bloody yank."
[11:56]
ENS Baltimare: "What is a yank."
[11:57]
Titanic: "Don't play funny with me."
[11:58]
ENS Baltimare: "Titanic, turn back now or you may be forced to do so."
[11:59]
Titanic: "Force a passenger ship. On what charge."
[12:00]
Titanic: "Unknown ship, respond. On what charge will you forcefully stop a passenger ship."
[12:05]
The Baltimare for some reason did not respond to the Titanic's calls for an answer. That was the last transmission between the ship and fleet before the Manehattan incident occurred that afternoon.

Who says nothing is there?
Plays ominous music
10026661
there should be a few question marks at the end of these btw
Format looks fine to me, if two authors can write 50-word letters back and forth between each other, then you ought to be able to do this.
That must've started a fun deliberation over on the old Baltimare...
10026666
Morse Code doesn't have question marks so I deliberately decided to not include them to keep the idea that this snippet was an official transcript.
10026670
Literally, its like an "Oh shit" moment.
Well snap. I think more then a few officers are going to be getting demoted. I hope the damage to the Titanic will not be enough to cripple it permanently. It could still work for ponies and it’s beauty inspiring.
10026695
Who says the Titanic is gonna get damaged.... Well, if certain steps aren't taken.
More, more, more, more, more, more, more.
Ps more
10026757
You want more, then I shall give more.
They should have identified themselves. By not doing so, Titanic is following protocol of believing they are being pursued by pirates.
I am fairly sure that when Celestia and Luna learned of this bit of poor manners, they had some choice words for the telegraph pony from the ENS Baltimare.
10026670
I'd claim Customs & Immigration.
The USA at that time had the Chinese Exclusion Act, but AFAIK, they didn't restrict white folks from entering. Also, Earth law at that time, stopping a ship outside the 3 mile limit was piracy and/or an act of war

Well what if the Oranges own some ships down in the Harbor then and were also down there to see what was going on and run into their Niece and her friends too.
Actually piracy wasnt really an issue in the Northern Atlantic during this time. This is all being done with Morse code over spark-gap transmitters at least definatly on the Titanic. All the captains are being bloody fools regardless of territorial limits nothing in law says Equestria or even the US has to let the ship dock
10026823
Thanks for the typo spot.
10026861
I was thinking about maybe a little first class party between some passengers and the Oranges

The Titanic right now is being pursued by an unknown naval force with similar design characteristics to the US Navy that refuse to identify themselves. To add onto that, they are also being requested to stop by said naval force. The ship has all rights to run and make it to their presumed destination of New York. What if your on the HMT Olympic, you are being followed by unknown ships and are being ordered by them to slow down or stop. What would you do? Run. Also, would you think Celestia and Luna would forgive the Baltimare's wireless operators and instead scold the old admiral? Seems more probable.
10026888
I would not blame the Captains, they were just following orders.
10026932
The part that always gets me are the light staying on as she went down. The image of that always stays in my head... the idea of the water lapping over the decks, consuming the bridge, flooding the funnel intakes. Even when she split, the emergency breakers kicked in and the emergency lights came on and stayed on until the ship went under. No matter how faint the lights were in the end, it still gets me that they stayed on and the Engineers stayed down there until the end.
10026702
Well I think running into a dock isn’t going to be fun then again hopefully Celestia, Luna, and the Mane 6 can talk them down in the Titanic.
10026973
Remember how long it took for the Titanic to stop during it's trials.... and that was only at about 21 knots.... now Titanic is going at 26 knots.... imagine the stopping distance there.

You got a discord?
10027008
Hopefully they will remember to change their calculations about how long it will take them to stop. I get the feeling that when they stop it will be far more jarring then anyone will be ready for. My hope is that Rainbow Dash will recklessly charge forward and be able to prove they are a bit friendly.
10027028
Yes & no. That is, I've got a Discord, what I DON'T got is the skills with the -ING Internet to get it to work. If you are interested, you can PM me the chapter & I mail back any suggested corrections
Hey, I'm old
When I was born, electric typewriters were cutting edge technology, dial phones hadn't been invented yet & they were still publishing sci-fi novels with people using slip sticks to pilot starships. Starman Jones (Heinlein) was published about when I was born. One of the subplots was that they couldn't navigate their ship because they'd lost their book of logarithm tables
10027112
Let's just say I have a rather interesting way on how the Titanic will stop.
I'm flying Jack
10027133
Ah, no problemo
This is quite enjoyable and i hope to read more soon. I especially enjoyed the wireless report.
Meanwhile in Manehatten...

Lmao... I wish I could draw well on computers. Otherwise I'd draw a teaser. Thank you very much for the support though.
Status Update:
Experiencing some writer's block right now with how I wanna put what I wanna put in my next chapter.
This is actually kind of funny. Bet Discord was listening to the whole thing with beer and popcorn.
This highlights the big problem with the direction this story has taken.Titanic repeatedly asks for their identification, an entirely reasonable thing for them to do, and the Equestrian ships repeatedly refuse to do so for no particular reason other than the out of story need to prevent the reveal.
Until they saw the pennants, the crew of the Titannic thought this was an Amercian task force. So why would they run in a panic in the first place? It's not like America and Great Britain are at war. They might be curious and annoyed, but they have not at this point figured out they're not in the Atlantic any more. Which also begs the question why they haven't since their astronomicaly navigation charts will be completely messed up.
The whole thing makes no sense and ruins what has been up till then an interesting and well developed story concept.
