"Ugh... Damn, why do I stay up so late when I know I'll regret it later?" Mike said as he shut off the alarm and rolled off his futon.
Pretty much every single fimfiction user is like this, am I right? Such is internet addiction...
A couple of typos but otherwise great start.
Not even commenting on the fact that he makes over 200k a year on only the premise that "he is good at building stuff", I have never once worked at a place of business which paid me the same day, a couple hours after I started. Usually, it takes a while for payroll to un-ass themselves and get into gear, and most companies withhold the first week of pay so that you have a week at the end of employment (whether you quit, are fired, or laid off or whatever) to live off of while your benefits or job search commences.
Remember that this character isn't the only person working at this company, and all of them need to get paid as well. That is a lot of paperwork and accounting that needs to take place, and it just isn't feasible to pay them everyday. Paying people on the hour or every day would be a logistical payroll nightmare. I've seen several pay schemes in my time on the workforce, the two most common payment schemes are weekly, (employees get paid at the end of the week, usually Friday) and biweekly (employees get paid every two weeks, again, usually on Friday). If this is a major corporation, I can't see them doing things so dramatically differently without a damn good reason, and I certainly can't think of one off-hand.
I'm also a little surprised he doesn't KNOW how much he'll be making hourly, seeing as that's part of his employment negotiation and he has to sign an employment contract to even start working...

Nice ride mam, do you have one in real life?
