Honestly you could still have them be pro slavery; but due to the slavery being by non humans; well they'd have a problem with that. Or they could also want to enslave the native inhabitants

you make a good point, and brought up a solution, instead of the other guy who just complained. Im gonna have to think about that. and see if it will fit into the story which it might.
really interesting take on Eqestria i like it
I expect that in not too long the legion's ranks will swell with new recruits from the town. At that time arming them all will become the issue, not numbers. Loving this, look forward to more.

i mean i not the first one to come up with the 'humans are slaves' thing, but the way im going to show equestrias governemnt probably will be.
8666890
probably

You forgot that only Roman citizens could become Legionaires however the Auxilaries.
And you have a large armoury in every fort and some former human slaves could work in a smith to produce new weapons.
Meme
where's
he's
They semm to be
here are just some

Fair enough, but beggars can't be choosers and when you need bodies in the ranks you won't discriminate against able-bodied volunteers serving side by side with actual legionaries. So in the end, whatever they end up being called, at some point the former slaves will make up the bulk of the army.

Arming them will be easy enough, the pony weapons should work fine enough. You also got to take into account that there should be a black smith in the town seeing as its so far out of the way, they may have used humans for the labor in the forge, so some native humans there may have been studying when they shouldn't have. As for the slqvery view of the Romans, it work work better in your favor to make them nonpro slave. As for a title for the native humans among the Romans, just my suggestion but, call them The Liberated, or The Damned. Or The Liberated Damned, or even The Legion of the Damned.
Btw keep on writing cant wait till the next chapter.

Dont worry i will. But thanks for you rrecommendations it really helps me write.
you know i imagine caltropes will be quite the weapon against these ponies
Spathae, oval shields, are these guys late imperial?
8672182
eh i was on the brink of using steriotypical legionnaires (square shield, plated segmentada armor and gladius) but i played alot of 'atilla total war' when i made this story so it influenced me for late imperial, though considering my knowlege of rome is mostly imperial and republic era i will be drawing parallels with imperial and late imperial eras
8672123
thanks for the idea
this could be used by either ponies or the romans. but i prefer
jediponies.I am disturbed by the amount of highly trained, armored, and organized legionnaires that died to this untrained, poorly armed, rabble of quadrupeds.
8685774
Only three hundred died. You try standing against a horse charging at you full speed while it stabs at you with a spear. Shock cavalry was effective for a reason.

True
I Read all of this while listening to the rome total war OST
Pissed of the wrong dimension hoppers lol
Also did the entiterty of times army go there, because one legion is like a twelfth of times army and they are just throwing them around, one legion = roughly 25,000 troops
