Teenage Fluttershy can’t pass the flight test she needs to graduate from flight school. Afraid of getting stuck in Cloudsdale, she runs away to a strange new town called Ponyville. But her problems follow her there.
But I find myself wondering why Tree Hugger instead of Applejack?
Because Tree Hugger and AJ are very different characters and it'd be a completely different story?
OH SHIT THIS IS INTERESTING YOU GOT MY BRAIN GOING. WALL OF TEXT INCOMING.
Taking my character interpretations for granted, I think AJ is, at least initially, a tough ship for Flutters. Aj is nearly as boisterous and extroverted as Pinkie Pie, and might scare Flutters off initially. One of the reasons I ship Flutterdash so much is that I think Rainbow's pretty close to the center of the extrovert/introvert line. She seems perfectly comfortable in social situations, but also spends a lot of time alone flying or napping. So she can drag Flutters out of her shell, but will understand her need for alone time.
Anyway, assuming they could get past the meet cute, and Flutters could make AJ understand that she doesn't want to spend every waking moment with AJ's family, they'd make pretty good lovers. They have the traditional butch/fem dichotomy thing going on, and like Flutterdash, Appleshy is about AJ lending FLutters her strength, while Flutters helps bring out AJ's tender side. In fact as a romance plot, an AJ/Dash/Flutters triangle is a bit too symmetrical. I tend to write polyamory at the slightest excuse, and AJ and Dashie might hit it off and just fall into a happy little triad of endurance contests and sexy consensual Flutter-abuse. Which would make a good pure clop, but a less good romance.
(Omits paragraph about FlutterMac, but if Flutters were dating his sister, and around that big gentle stud all the time, I bet she'd be tempted.)
Annnnyyyyyway, I'm not saying too much about Flutterhugger, because spoilers, but I'm writing Tree Hugger as a quiet gentle mystic with a tough side, so more of a contrast with Rainbow than AJ is.
Now I want to write a FlutterAppleDash clop, though. So thanks for asking!
Hey. Thats story is very cool. I hope than more come soon. I really enjoy your interpretation of these characters, specially Tree Hugger. She has more personality than in the show. Keep good work ;)
“Oh. Okay. Good.” Fluttershy blinked. “Wait, did I just ask you out on a date?”
Tree hugger chuckled. “You did. Now come on, let’s get back to work on that shed.”
If it wasn't so cute and funny, I would feel jealous of her, and more than a little... not envious... pity, I suppose, for Fluttershy. Because she is probably not going to have a fun time at the party...
Taking a minor character from a not so great episode and fleshing her out is one of the great pleasures of fanfiction.
For a writer, that probably goes for a lot of things. I certainly find that's the case as a reader: many fanfics read as if they had a lot more thought put in than the actual show.
I'm quite enjoying this:
