Equestria has been a land of peace and harmony for a very long time. Nopony bothers to ask what was sacrificed to make that happen. They will find out soon enough...
Welp, looks like even Celestia has fallen under the curse of the Maw, and she's breaking down rather quickly at the end of the chapter.
I'm not certain how the ponies are going to break out of this thing, besides Chrysalis abusing pre-destination knowledge to guide events along to a certain trajectory. Either this is early days for Chrysalis in the temporal loop, or Celestia is also important and Chrysalis needs to set things up to guide Celestia to a certain route, which would be an ironic flipping of Celestia's thoughts earlier in the chapter about manipulating everything herself.
Chrysalis reveals a little bit more about the nature of the fog, and how it's reflecting any magic used inside to keep magic from getting out. However, it seems the various cities are being linked to each other, since there's at least two ponies who have crossed over between cities: Babs and Twilight Sparkle. Unless Babs finding Apple Bloom was merely a manifestation and not the real Apple Bloom, and the same with Twilight Sparkle.
So, did Princess Luna inadvertently let the Maw escape from Manehatten, then, and that's why it's all her fault? Or is it something she's going to do in the future that Chrysalis is setting up Lightning Dust to stop her from doing?
Also, Chrysalis refers to the Maw as God, or a separate entity? Well, I remember 'God' from Silent Hill, so there is that. At this point, I wonder if any of the Mane 6 are dead. RD is supposed to be dead in a future that Chrysalis is trying to prevent, and Fluttershy's name was mentioned in the dreams that Luna overheard.
