Ah, Nightmares... Those are always such a nice way to wake up...
You've pegged the condition proper. I commend your writing skills.
Now there's an idea. Pinkie insurance.
Not sure if it's an awful idea or a great idea, but it's an idea.
This chapter was very heavy on exposition wandering about every which way. I'm not sure if you had Big Mac wondering on the power of the Royal Sisters to characterize him or establish that this story's Equestria follows basic cosmological principles (maybe both?), but it seemed like a rather awkward and aggressive diversion from what was actually happening. Same with Rainbow Dash's bitter reminiscing about high school. Laying down with her tortoise and feeling sorry for her past self just doesn't seem like a very Rainbow thing to do. Then again, she was high at the time, so meh.
The story is good, and the plot so far is solid: ponies got money problems and want to solve them with a big contest, Rainbow's got a crush, and Big Mac has issues. That's great. But every time you have somepony musing at length about some unrelated topic you bring that plot to a screeching halt.
Still, it's looking good. Have an upvote!
