Im pretty certain I spotted a War Of The Worlds reference in that last tidbit
hell of a video at the end.
There's two ways I feel about this. The first is that it's a good way to explore a more darker, deadlier enemy than anything in the humans a face before. A way to make Dominic sort of wish that he was facing off against pastel ponies again instead of the raping pillaging Caribou that they're going to be facing down now. "You thought CELESTIA was a problem? These people will skull---k you to death, how's THAT for an enemy!" Itd definitely make for gripping drama and powerful action.
Yet at the same time there's also this nagging suspicion that they are put in here solely to show that the humans HAVE to be there, that it's just another way to show that the human ways are right, and pony ways are wrong. That ONLY the humans could possibly deal with this kind of threats, ponies are just too stupid and backwards and they need "mighty Whitey" to protect them from the oncoming threat.
7454951 well..... It's true is it not? The most powerful nation in the world, the ponies, freely allowed slavery and war mongering to happen without reproach in two different nations for millenia. If that's not a sign somthing has to change then I don't know what is. Also if you are just saying that in reference to the direction the author is taking the story, well, the author can do what he wants to keep things interesting, I don't know about you but I would rather have conflict and excitement, not peace and boring slice of life nonsense in the stories I read.
7455017
Ifs not their nation. How would you like it if Britain invaded and decided "you know what, because you allow guns to fill your streets and kill your children, we're taking over."
You cannot be the police of the world. That's not how it works.

Can we get a black person or a black person analog i.e. a pony? Make him generic black sergeant man.
I kid I kid mostly....
k40.kn3.net/taringa/3/8/5/4/4/2/3/claxle/901.jpg?4178
I feel that as a black person, we are *chuckles* are under *giggles louder* haha haha sorry, I had to do it.
Good chapter, I like it.
7455071 First of all I'm Scottish and I do believe American gun control is a joke. There is also a huge difference between a nation of warmongering slavers with their sights set on you and a country that is too busy masturbating to guns to realize that if they clamped down on guns then they could greatly reduce their murder rates.
7455563
EVERYONE always thinks they're in the right. That's the thing. Everyone is the hero of their own story and thinks THEIR way of doing things is right. At what point does it stop? You can say it's okay to interfere cuz they do slavery, but what happens when you decide you don't like how they handle their bill of rights? Or that you want to completely change their government cuz it'd be SO much better with YOUR model, and you know what, we might as well not let you decide how you run your local governments either, here's a new bunch of laws you now have to abide by.
Tyranny works both ways. It's not up to other governments to force people in other countries to be just like them. They have to willingly choose to change after making informed decisions, and shouldn't have change just FORCED on them. That NEVER works well. Look at the Middle East. How well did THAT work out for us?
7455652 The middle east didn't work because their culture is fundamentally opposed to pretty much all western values and their government is corrupt and exploitable, they wont help themselves and we cannot do everything for them or are not willing to carry out the drastic action required to achieve a civilized result. Take out one dictator that was managing to keep a kind of "peace" and the idiotic religious extremists tear the country apart because the "government" no longer has the balls to keep them in check. I have put my answer about real world affairs in spoilers because it is irrelevant to the story and may be offensive.
In relation to the story you seem to have completely missed my point, intentionally or otherwise. The caribou already have their sights set on Equestria making war inevitable and if you have read any stories from the Fall of Equestria universe, which I believe The Boss may have taken inspiration from, then I would hope you would agree that death would likely be a preferable outcome for the slaves if they wont be saved and the best thing for the world is the extermination of the Caribou. You do realise that the Caribou likely have hundreds if not thousands of Equestrian slaves and Celestia never bothered about it, don't you?
Do you think Britain should ignore a country if, for example, the Afghanistan government took British people slaves and obviously planned to continue to do so as long as they existed just because you believe it's not their place to intervene? I pay you the complement of believing that you have just not thought about that aspect of this conflict.
In the case of the Caribou in the Fall of Equestia universe they have a type of madness built into their DNA or some kind of magic plague usually so they will never stop as long as they continue to exist leaving only one option.
7455701 "The middle east didn't work because their culture is fundamentally opposed to pretty much all western values and their government is corrupt and exploitable, they wont help themselves and we cannot do everything for them or are not willing to carry out the drastic action required to achieve a civilized result. Take out one dictator that was managing to keep a kind of "peace" and the idiotic religious extremists tear the country apart because the "government" no longer has the balls to keep them in check. Okay, the thing is, other nations need TIME and SPACE to work out their own issues. It's alright for them to be exposed to other nations and to take good ideas from them. That's fine. But they need to work out their own issues. Not to mention we've NEVER...seen the Caribou really given focus until NOW. Like, at all. This comes out of nowhere. So that makes it insulting cuz now the Equestrians don't just need mighty whitey, no ANY government that's not friendly to the humans or is RUN by them is bad and wrong and incompetent and BOOO HISSSSS. It's just ANOTHER retconny reason to say DOMINIC'S ways are right and CELESTIA'S are wrong. And instead of realizing that, you're going along with it.
You don't need to drag, say, Superman down to make Batman look good. Or to drag Celestia down to make your own stand-in look good. This just comes off as more s--ting on Equestria, on Celestia, and to prop up the human ways as the "right" ways.
7455776 I quite enjoy dissing Celestica and her friendship conquers all nonsense and her sending 6 untrained civilians to stumble over magicial magufins to solve all her problems because she is too incompetent to rely on anything other than circumstance and luck strategy and I see nothing wrong with enjoying a story which emphasises that to the extreme. It's entertaining. Making humans seem superior is just the icing on the proverbial cake and I am gonna have my cake and eat it whether you like it or not!
ps:
More irrelevant political nonsense!
It is in my personal opinion that it is rather ridiculous to believe that leaving countries that have proven to be happy to follow barbaric doctrine (A.K.A Islamic religion) for thousands of years will, in any reasonable length off time, achieve anything like peace and equality without external intervention. The impotence I feel when I think about how little I can do about the spread of religious belief and how it creates these countries where it is acceptable to behead gays, stone or throw acid on unfaithful wives, execute those who leave the mainstream religion through social justice and treat women as half a man has always been and always will be something which makes me angry at myself and the world.

Most of the people in Lord of the Rings were civilians. Link from legend of Zelda as a civilian. Steven Universe is a civilian. It doesn't matter if they don't have military training. You don't need that to be a hero or heroine.
7457435 In the lord of the rings they had the fellowship of the ring to make a plan and Frodo went with that archer dude and the dwarf and other combat experienced people. Link in the legend of Zelda has a inherited magical thing called the tri-force of courage which makes it so he can overcome any obstacle and a magical sword near the end, he also had combat experience by then too. I have no idea who Steven universe is.
In MLP Celestia take Twilight and plops her and her friends down where there is trouble and hopes that they fix it. Every single time they have won any conflict it was through no skill or talent of their own, they simply tripped over the elements of harmony and miraculously they were the 6 destined to be able to use them or they would have been fucked in the first episode. When Discord broke free it was the elements of harmony again but I guess you could argue that Twilight knowing that dues ex machina memory spell that she pulled out her arse was some form of skill. When the changelings attacked, coincidentally the only time they ever actually fought anything, they lost and got captured and were saved my the dues ex machina of Shining Armour somehow converting Cadence's love into a repulsion shield when he had just said that the shield he normally uses would be useless because the changeling were already in the city. Another dues ex machina spell that appeared out of nowhere without any rime or reason just to save everyone. In the crystal empire the day is saved by putting a rock on a pedestal.... that Twilight tripped over because she happened to be able to replicate the dark magic that Celestia used in front of her once..... you see where I'm going with this by now right? Not once was there ever a solid plan, not once did they win without a magical macguffin of some description which solves all their problems for them.
7455652
Oh my goodness.
Please stop trying to fight everything about this story.
Also, would you like to join my group called "Salty Walrus"? It's not a joke, there IS a group called that.
7457826
"In MLP Celestia take Twilight and plops her and her friends down where there is trouble and hopes that they fix it." Twilight is her most skilled student, Rarity is witty and intelligent, Fluttershy has her affinity with nature and can connect to just about every animal, Applejack's insanely strong, Pinkie Pie has a chaotic edge to her that makes her capable of doing things that only GODS should be able to do. All of them HAVE unique talents of their own that play off each other well and even better still when using the Elements. They're not JUST random people, as we saw when Starlight Glimmer came back. Them not coming together leads to Equestria's destruction, plain and simple. Cuz sometimes people ARE just that important.
And you complain about magical macguffins? The RING is a Macguffin. Link just so happening to be the hero of time is a huge coincidence that comes pretty much outta nowhere in Ocarina of Time. In fantasy, this happens ALL the time. It's to show that fortune favors our heroes, that despite all they endure, they're clearly on the right path. You're ignoring the meta-fictional context level of such stories and taking it far too literally. It's like saying The Shining is JUST a psychological drama/thriller/horror film when it's SO much more than that.
7457877
I have no idea what that group is.
7457902
It is a group of individuals from all walks of life and countries where we come together and discuss the political ramifications and social problems with the world today vs what we would be like with a single governing body.
7457902
It causes megatons of saltsplosions and ruins friendships and families in its sheer saltiness.
7457901 Fair 'nuf.... but...... what if I enjoy taking things literally? What if I enjoy taking all the Friendship is Magic and fixes everything bullshit, scoffing at it, throwing it in the bin and running with the universe the way I find it entertaining? You obviously don't like it that way but that's up to you.
7457940
Because to me, then that means you have to take EVERYTHING seriously. It means you have to take The Room seriously. It means you have to nitpick Lord of the Rings to death, constantly asking "why couldn't they just use the eagles" or anything like that. The reason we have suspension of disbelief is so that the author can tell a good story, or a director can tell a good story or etc. And sure, SOME things are fair game, like asking why Twilight is reluctant to give Trixie a second chance when they did so for Discord and Starlight, who definitely did far worse than Trixie. But that kind of critique is far because it's a personality and canon-related question. But questioning why there's, say, so much use of magic as a solution for problems in a show CALLED friendship is magic is silly. It's like asking why anvils don't just splatter the heads of a Looney Tune. The world they live in adheres to certain laws and understandings, and therefore in a fantasy setting it'd make SENSE for magic to be a common tool for solving things, the same way it makes sense in a cartoon for people NOT to go kersplat every time they fall from a long height: it's not funny to see broken bones and blood and gore, but it IS funny to see them walking out of a crater, looking like a living accordion.
Does that make sense?
7457919
Ah, no. I am gonna quote from probably the best barfight movie of all time, "From Dusk 'Til Dawn". "I may be an asshole, but I'm not a FUCKING asshole."
7457954 Sure, but, like I said, I enjoy the nit-picking, I enjoy trying to create a darker version of the universe in my head and bending the things I read to suit that universe. I really enjoy dissing Celestia and her little pawns and their plan-less luck based adventures and I REALLY REALLY enjoy reading stories that follows along with that narrative. To you that may seem twisted but I am what I am.
Edit: P.S
I guess I am just bad at suspending my disbelief, that is probably also a big part of it.
7457956
Fair enough, besides, we'll be done with Europe and Asia in a few years give or take a government is allowing radicals in.....oh wait..make that two years at the most.
7457969
Fair enough, there's plenty of room for subversion and satire in fiction.
7457970
Oh c'mon, that's just bigoted. Your ancestors came in to the country as illegal immigrants and "radicals" by their own country's standards, who are you to turn others away or say others should be turned away? Especially when your ancestor's idea of honoring the native's laws and customs was to give them smallpox-infected blankets and shoot them in the head? Unless your name is SITTING BULL, you shouldn't get to complain about illegal immigrants or migrant refugees coming in and changing everything.
7458109
This is the most racist comment I've ever seen.
I think you'll fit in perfectly at "Salty Walrus".
7458720
It's not RACISM to point out the fact that European pilgrims were technically illegal immigrants and refugees themselves who encroached on another nation's land and took it over whilst screwing over the natives, and therefore the ancestors OF said pilgrims have NO right to complain about illegal immigration or an influx of refugees they don't like. It's like Cruella deVille complaining she doesn't understand why dogs don't seem to like her, or Chris Brown saying he doesn't get why women don't like him. You don't really get to talk! You've NO idea what you're talking about, you've NO experience regarding it, and it's hypocritical to complain. It'd be like telling a guy in a wheelchair who's a vietnam vet that he has NO idea what real pain is after you broke your arm. Yeah, he kinda does, and he'd walk up and punch you in the face if he could still...y'know...WALK.
7458750
Are you a legal resident of the U.S.A?
7458750
Furthermore I'd like to point out that you went off on a tangent to that little rant you had and I find you laughable when you attempt to explain the reasoning behind the lies and self hatred of your words.
Jolly good show.
7458813
My family are ancestors from the Mayflower. The Perkins family. Look 'em up.
I'm the RECIPIENT of illegal immigration, my ancestors were refugees the same way the vast majority of Americans were, so it's hypocritical of me to complain about such things, the same way it is for the vast majority of Americans.
7458824
Nothing I've said is a lie.
7458826
It is not hypocritical when the very illegal immigrants we speak of are out in the streets in San Diego screaming to 'Make America Mexico Again'
Of course I'm sure you'll blame someone else for enabling them.
Perhaps when they burn American flags and hoist Mexican flags above ours inside American borders.
Or perhaps you will look at the southernmost border of Mexico and not see the wall or fences with snipers and armed patrols.
No organized nation truly owned the land when the pilgrims came so that is null and void.
The established government is created to protect and care for its' citizen's well being, not those of another country's.
Yes, self hate wasn't addressed by you, so it leads me to believe that you hate yourself for what happened some three centuries prior and wish for others to suffer with you.
So I ask you a single dual question that I sincerely hope that you answer: Are you a Social Justice Warrior and a Democrat?
I won't respond to another so I suggest you make this one count.
7458865
"It is not hypocritical when the very illegal immigrants we speak of are out in the streets in San Diego screaming to 'Make America Mexico Again' Nobody is saying that. It's US that's treating THEM badly. You're so mind-bogglingly racist it's amazing. Your projection is fascinating, really. Why don't you go back to reading Ayn Rand and "The Turner Diaries"? Your bigotry is disgusting, and I'd REPORT you if not for the fact I'm sick of talking to you.
7458873

7457969
I left for one day and came back to 22 comments about geopolitics. I could understand the ones pertaining to the story, but it really kinda spiraled out of control there. I'm not mad, mind you... Just concerned.
7459215
No need to be concerned, I just wanted to see their view on things and I was right.
Grey is a SJW and a self hating human being.
So I'm ok now.
7459215
Sorry, it got out of control.
So the Caribou ARE a thing here, they wont last long I think
That moment when you confuse vanity with pride, this is the Caribou's relationship with the rest of the world, especially the Onorussians, the Caribou are a stain/distraction/annoyance, the closest they hold is the fact their weaponry comes from a far superior nation. Death upon the Caribou!
I saw some vague references to JEFF WAYNES WAR OF THE WORLDS.
