Yeah, so... I don't know when I'm ever going to continue writing this story, let alone complete it. Aside from the fact that the scope of the plot has gotten too big and complex for my own good, the next arc is extremely difficult to pull off and will only work if done right due to how experimental and different it is. And frankly, I don't trust myself one bit to write it well. And I don't have any formal education in writing/storytelling, so it's not as if I know what I'm doing.

So I've finally published the first chapter of part 7, and I gotta say, this might just be my masterpiece... until I write something better 6 months later. However, don't expect the next chapter till summer this year (2021). I only wanted to get the first chapter out of the way. I fully intend to write all the chapters of this arc first so that they're all ready when I start publishing them.

I started writing this all-OC fic with 8 "parts" in mind, all with a projected 200k words. But now I've realized that parts 1–6 was essentially a bunch of setup—very intricate setup, but setup all the same—to part 7, which will be a whole novel-length story on its own, easily going over 100k words. Heck, part 7 pretty much is the story. Everything before that was merely the appetizer.

I won’t be coming back to it till December at the earliest (no promises) and the next arc is unlike anything else I’ve written, meaning it’s something that requires a lot of time and careful attention in order to be executed properly, and those are things I just don’t have right now.

Finally! First chapter in almost a year is out!

I'm actually reconsidering the release schedule for the chapters, namely, that instead of publishing them in some sort of uniform order (e.g. Every Monday and Thursday), I'll just release them whenever they're ready. I already have like 95% of the plot complete; I just gotta revise, add detail, or just put it down into words.

If you’re writing a really long story (say, 200,000+ words), write the whole thing out first and revise before publishing chapters. If you’re impatient like me, you’re gonna end up going back and making changes to published chapters which will likely create inconsistencies for readers who have already read those chapters.

It's finished. I finally finished writing part 5. That only took me, what, 7 months? I hope this was the first and only instance in which writer's block hindered my writing efforts with this story. Part 5 was an absolute struggle to get through, and at this point I'm just glad it's complete. Well, "complete" isn't exactly accurate. It's definitely finished, but I'm extremely dissatisfied with it.

I'm pretty much finished writing Part IV, and now all that's left is polishing it. The good news is that I'm certain to make quick work of Part V; I'll probably be getting to it soon. If things go smoothly, I may even publish it by the time Part IV is over, which is August 3rd.

Just like the number in the title, Part 4 of AotS will be coming out next Tuesday. Holy shit, that's in only a few days. No joke, I legit just realized that now, as I'm typing this. Man, it's been a while.

Anyway, anyway... For Part 4 there's gonna be three chapters being released every week, so Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday you'll be getting new chapters for the next three weeks. This is gonna be the longest part so far, adding up to a whole nine chapters.

-It'll be told in eight "parts," plus intro and epilogue chapters.
-It'll consist of six major story arcs. Parts 1 & 2 make up the first arc, parts 3–6 are an arc each, and 7 & 8 is the last (and imo best) arc.
