Apropos of the Sinners – Update 12 · 2:34am Sep 14th, 2020
Decided to put AotS on an official hiatus. I won’t be coming back to it till December at the earliest (no promises) and the next arc is unlike anything else I’ve written, meaning it’s something that requires a lot of time and careful attention in order to be executed properly, and those are things I just don’t have right now.
On top of that, I guess I’m just tired. The constituent pieces of this story have gone through many different drafts, ideas, and variations, and I’m still coming up with ways to write it. I only have a very general idea of where the plot is heading, but without a solid grasp of the specifics. That’s something I tend to invent along the way. In any case I’m still trying to come up with something good, and I don’t care how long it takes me to get there, so long as the end product is to my liking.
But please don’t take this as some hint that I’m burnt out or growing detached/disinterested from my story. I really love these characters; they mean a lot to me alongside all that they’ve been through, and I feel like I’m gonna have a hard time saying goodbye to them when the story ends.
My (at the time of writing this) projection for the final word count is somewhere north of 300k words, maybe up to 350k words. I dunno. I just really hope I can finish this thing by summer of next year.
