Apropos of the Sinners – Update 16

I finally got a new chapter out, after over a year of hiatus.

Truth to tell, I have no idea when I'll finish this story. Could be a year. Could be five years. Or ten years. Who's to say? I can no longer make any promises. There's still a lot of ground to cover and I'm nowhere near finished, plus I'm busy with real life.

At the same time, I don't want to compromise the quality of the story. I'm hoping to get some more chapters out this year, but I'm also working without an editor, or any help whatsoever. For all I know, by the time I'm finished, there's gonna be plot holes up and down that I'm unaware of. It's hard to write such a big story on your own.

I guess it's my fault for getting so ambitious. The whole story was supposed to be ~200,000 words long, and in hindsight I perhaps should have stuck to those humbler goals. But now I'm in too deep to turn back.

I'm a little embarrassed to say this, but I really wanted to create a story with endless depth, the sort of story you can read a thousand times and always get something new out of it. I think I've failed on that front, but I'm still determined to write a solid plot with engaging characters, if I can manage it.

So we'll see in the long run.
