Random Fact: The AMD k6-x series of CPUs was so successful that it singlehandedly generated enough revenue for AMD to develop the flagship Athlon line, which was internally codenamed “k7”, as a followup to the series that successfully competed against not just the Intel Pentium, but the Pentium, the Pentium Pro, the Pentium 2, and Pentium 3. The Athlon, compared to the k6-x, was able to reach much higher clockspeeds than its predecessor, and later on started the x86-64 generation of

Random Fact:
Bloons Tower Defense was based on the original game, “Bloons” which was in turn basically a digital take on those balloon pop games. Except instead of throwing the darts directly at the balloons, one had to aim from the side, and in later levels, bounce the darts around. How do I know? I’ve played the Bloons games before.

We’re goin’ to Vegas, y’all!

Random Fact: PGA CPUs, which have a Pin-Grid-Array connector, were once very common with off-the-shelf CPUs. Though, due to the nature of bent pins resulting in damaged processors, most chips today instead either use LGA sockets, which place the pins on the board, or are directly soldered to the board instead, making them non-replaceable.

Random Fact: Many computer hardware vendors actually own seemingly unrelated companies as subsidiaries. For example, Acer used to run Aopen as a hardware vendor (Something I only know because of the fact that my first PC has an Aopen mobo), and ALi, AKA Acer Labs, inc. AOpen now mostly does business with embedded electronics and special-order PCs, and the part of ALi was acquired by Nvidia.

For a time, one of the most popular recording formats for home videos were small DVDs that were roughly around 3 inches in circumference.

AMD K6 > Pentium

Random Fact: Clock-for-clock, many of AMD’s earlier CPUs such as the K6 and Athlon were actually faster than Intel’s own offerings, and so AMD adopted the “PR-Rating” system, which compares the speed of the CPU directly against a competing Intel model, while in reality running at a lower clock speed.
