shhhhhhhhhhhh just breaking the site again don't mind me

very, very, very experimental fic continues its slow progress as the deadline for bicyclette's sci-fi contest draws near. these chapters are about on-par with what if in terms of length, but oh boy have they been an interesting experience to write.

hey hey btw i've got a (couple of) public minecraft server(s)!

yeah so anyway here is my webbed site lol. there's an MC Classic server for building whatever, and an MC Beta 1.7.3 server for playing survival. I might eventually also put up a modern vanilla server as well, though given how I'm hosting a bunch of servers already for friends and a couple of discord servers, idk if the little slab of a PC I'm using to host 'em all would be able to manage lol.

summer break is almost here :V

basically got one week left lol. got an experimental fic in the works that's a sort-of direct sequel picking off right where Splintershard ended. no prior reading is necessary.

MAN it's been a while since I've toyed with writing styles.

Random Fact:
With a compatibility pack installed, Microsoft Office XP can still actually open and edit modern docs perfectly fine. Guess who uses a thrift-store copy of Office XP for offline editing?

Thoughts & Opinions~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When you encounter a user who’s visibly struggling and/or not understanding the concept of respecting other users, I often find it best to treat them kindly, as that often leads to them opening the floodgates to what they want to really do.

Looking back through my update history for fics, I seem to have a tendency to write much more near the end of summer break and during the school year.

I’m honestly quite surprised to find two new upvotes to Wielder of the Orb: Of Magic and Ponies. I specifically linked to it in an earlier blog just to see how people would react to a story I still consider as total and utter cringe after two iterations of rewrites, but hey, who am I to complain?

I like digging through old media. It’s kinda like a treasure hunt to me. My favorite finds are when I find baby videos of me or my siblings, and one of the more recent ones I’ve found was 6 year old me dancing in the unfinished master bedroom of my old house while it was still under construction.

Silently, at the very back of my mind, I still kinda want to make a super-mega crossover that combines every fic I’ve ever written into a single story, but that’d be mind-bogglingly, insanely hard to pull off. Why? Because I’ve begun to spread out in terms of genres I write in, and most of my stories are just completely incompatible with each other. Take, for instance, “I Think I Summoned a Ponk” and “Equestria Forever”. I tried to make a story that’d combine the two, but it only resulted in me axing both stories for good.

I find it quite frustrating that I’ve been in piano lessons since late kindergarten/early 1st grade and yet I’m still not allowed to quit. I completely and utterly lost my passion for it back around 3rd grade when I realized that drawing stick figure comic books for a pasttime was nothing compared to building computers. Luckily though, my mom said that not only would she let me quit and completely detach myself from any sort of music lessons for good if I pass my level 10 AIM test, (the final and hardest one), but she’d give me $100 to spend on anything I want. That’s enough for both a decent budget PCI graphics card and 512 megabytes of memory for my oldest PC!

Speaking of which, the Nvidia fx 5200 is so sucky that without the help of software-based rendering, the thing struggles to even play 720p mp4 videos. Even then, software rendering instead of hardware rendering is still just as slow because of the massive bottleneck caused by coupling a 166 mhz CPU with 64 mb of RAM.

If you have the patience to wait a few minutes for every action, then Windows XP running off of 64 mb of RAM and a 128 mb swapfile is surprisingly functional. Just don’t launch Chrome, or the entire system goes swap-zombie.

I still need to install Firefox 45 on my oldest PC. It’s the last version to not require SSE2 instructions, but from what I’ve seen while testing in emulators, the thing is also a memory hog. Luckily, it seems that Firefox 12 still has basic support for html5, so perhaps I’ll try that instead.

The most surprising thing for me after signing up for AP Chemistry for this coming school year was getting an envelope stuffed with summer homework assignments, and a note mentioning that the first test of the school year will be based on said assignments.

Once again, this blog by itself has probably outpaced the word count of many chapters that I’ve written.
